John Travolta is actually a licensed pilot who used to own a 707 airliner and flew all over the world. He also is qualified on several types of airliners and has captained commercial flights. His home is this wonderful place in Florida called Jumbolair which is built on a runway and is a housing development for Aviation enthusiasts and aircraft owners. They can literally park their planes in their garage. Travolta's house is the largest and is set up like an airport terminal complete with tower and ramps like jetways for his 707. He donated the 707 to a museum recently for Quantas, the Australian airline who used to own the plane. He still flies his Gulfstream though. Not very many people are familiar with this part of Travolta's life. He used to sweep hangars to pay for lessons and used his pay from his first TV show, "Welcome Back Kotter" to finish them. He's had a lifelong love of airplanes.

You guys build your dreams on the heads of thousands and thousands of dead people.. killed by your colonization of land that doesn't belong to you. Travolta being a pilot means absolutely nothing in the long run, he didn't even try to save his son from physical problems although it DOES seem to impress YOU.

Yeah both played that role amazingly. Different yes but still amazingly great. Kirstie's Saavik really felt a lot more inexperienced and Robin's Saavik felt more matured, which after the events of ST2 makes sense. I remember after this movie came out, I read a factoid slide about Look Who's Talking at the theater while I was waiting for another movie to start. It said that in the original cut of the movie, Mickey did not have a voice, he was a regular baby/toddler and the movie was a pretty boring romcom. The studio wasn't going to release it. Then one of the producers came up with the idea of having the babies talk. They hired Bruce Wilis, who was in a very popular comedy series called Moonlighting at the time to record the voice o f the kid in post production, and that's how this film gor a theatrical release.

In 1981 she starred in the easily forgotten film "One More Chance" before landing her breakout role in 1982's "Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan" as Lt. Saavik, a Vulcan. She appeared in several films and tv shows after that, the movies "Summer School" and "Blind Date" were funny and worth watching, and of course her time on the sitcom "Cheers". They turned Look Who's Talking into a tv sitcom. It was called Baby Talk. George Clooney was in it. He wanted out after the first season. It was one of the very first shows Phil Rosenthal worked on, the creator of Everybody Loves Raymond.

Madhouse has such a bad rep and I honestly don't know why. I mean it's a cringy 90s comedy like so many of them for the most part- but again, other movies are too and yet they are absolutely beloved. I love the couple's relationship in that movie and how they can rely on each other no matter how severely shit hits the fan. Plus John Larroquette is a snack and I'm always happy to see him in positive roles where he doesn't turn out to be an asshole in the end!

When my sister got married, she said she'd never have kids. Then, about ten years later she told me she changed her mind. I said, "You know a baby can't replace a cat." 🧷😉 Twenty years later, for a while she had two adolescent sons and 7 cats living in their home. (She volunteered at a shelter for many years.) Technically, 3 of the cats belonged to the kids. Give Beans a hug for me.

Having your own kid is not as gross as watching everyone else's kids. It's kinda like when you watch someone take their dog for a walk and they pick up the dog poop, it looks really disgusting. But if you take your own dog for a walk you don't really think about it. Having your own kid is kinda the same way, it becomes less gross because it's your own kid.

My first exposure to Kirstie Alley was Star Trek II. My Grandpa was a huge Star Trek fan. When my mom was going to nursing school I would spend after school days with my grandparents and there was always Star Trek or a Western on the TV. The next time I saw her was Cheers in 1987.

Look Who's Talking Too (yes, that's how they spelled it for the sequel) did still focus on the babies, with the return to the Falopian tubes for this movie's credits foreshadowing the introduction of Mikey's little sister, voiced over by Roseanne Barr. However the second sequel, Look Who's Talking Now, changed the voiced over character to the family's new dogs, voiced by Danny Devito and Diane Keaton. As to getting Bruce Willis to do this, when they made this it was very much in Willis' wheelhouse. He was a comedian until Die Hard made him an action star, and this would have been filmed before Die Hard came out.
@randallshuck2976 Жыл бұрын
Good reaction. If you are enthused there are several "Guess Who's Talking" sequels. All of them are okay and a good way to skip an hour or so on a rainy or snow afternoon. I mentioned this before in the Steel Magnolias video, but my fiancée had told me she was told by her doctor not to have kids. This was because she was in the same boat as Julia Roberts’ character. A couple of weeks later my niece graduated high school so we had a big party for her. Friends, family, kids, everyone was there. And me, being a professional clown, had to run around and entertain the kids. Erin said I reminded her of John Travolta from this movie. 11:57 Russ Meyer was a filmmaker who specialized in openly trashy films with a lot of, well, as you said, tig ol’ biddies. 15:33 Dr. Benjamin Spock was a pediatrician who wrote a book called “The Common Sense Book of Baby and Child Care” which pretty much became a Bible for new parents. 20:12 This is probably an inside joke. First shot of the movie “Saturday Night Fever,” which made John Travolta a big star, featured him walking down a street in New York with this song in the background. 27:20 As I remember, this movie did have a post-credits scene; you should go back and see it. This movie spawned at least two sequels - don’t see them.

I think what a lot of people don't get about Bruce Willis today is that he actually started on the comedy / drama / mystery series Moonlighting. For years, that's what he was known for. He didn't become an "action" star until Die Hard came out. People actually thought it was weird at the time that they put this comedy guy into a movie as an action star.

Before our daughter was born, my wife signed us up for some parenting classes just to see what they were teaching. One of the things that was told to us was not to take advise from older family members to heart and research things for yourself. A lot of the things our parents and their parents did are very outdated and some are dangerous. Like, nobody uses powder anymore. You’re not supposed to have ANYTHING in the crib when they are sleeping because they can accidentally smother themselves. A lot of older moms smoke during pregnancy and around kids and will tell you it’s harmless ( lots of those in my family).all in all, half the stuff we already knew and the other half was dead wrong.
