A lot cheaper and safer to run the lights now with LEDs and solar lights. Though, we’ve been going on Christmas lights tours since the early 1990s. I remember some great home displays back then. But I don’t remember seeing many in the decades before that as we didn’t do the tours until the early 90s. We did have great carols events though.
