You look good in that Blues jersey. That 7-2 whooping they took in game 3 might be the best thing that could have happen to the Blues. Exactly how I felt after game 4. This series is looking so similar to the other 3 series for St Louis. Split the first 4 and then their depth and physicality just decimate teams in the last 2-3 games. The longer this series goes the scarier it should be for Boston despite having 5 and 7 at home. Also early in game 4 a familiar look happened when Sundqvist went in on the forecheck and faked a check at a Boston defenseman and he flinched away misplaying the puck. That physical presence just wears on you and causes game 6 Karlsson-esque turnovers. A good sign for St Louis as this series progresses

Shannon, I believe I heard it from you in an earlier video that the StL hitting game was an “investment” I would agree. The later games in their first 3 series showed a lot of wear and tear on their opponents (regardless if people consider the Blues dirty or not). I was reminded of this when you mentioned how this series is following along with the one against San Jose. I was thinking the same thing earlier today. If Boston is down 2 of their top 6 defensemen, that isn’t good. I feel like the Blues are going to pound them even harder in game 5. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Blues got the jump on Boston in game 5 like they did to San Jose. Of course, I can see it going the other way as well as I think Boston has been their toughest opponent to date.

What doesn't get much mention if any is that St. Louis had an odd schedule early in the season that saw them play fewer games than almost all other teams so they had "games in hand" when they were hovering around and briefly in last place. Games in hand are divisive; you have to win them in order for it to matter, but combine that with the turtle derby in the west and they were already in pretty decent standing once they did.

Good points, Shannon. I agree that the whole storyline of being in last place is overblown. The Blues seemed to have 3-5 games in hand on the rest of the Western Conference until probably late February. So it always looked like the Blues just had to play better. Their fate was in their hands the entire time. It wasn’t like they had to be the best team in the league to make the playoffs, but they went ahead and did it anyway just to be safe. In the first half of the season, the Blues had very little confidence. They could play a great game (much like we see from them in the playoffs now) and they just seemed to wait for someone to lose the game. You could see it in the guys’ postures. Berube had to train them how to avoid that mindset. If the November 2018 Blues had given up that shorty to Carlo from game 4, the Blues hang their head, the fans boo Jake Allen, and the Bruins win the game 8-2. Now, the Blues get mad and they punish the other team for embarrassing them.

Shannon, Great analysis on the Blues. As a Blues fan when I saw the acquisitions we had over the off season, I knew it was going to be a good year. But right off the bat we were 2-3 games under .500 for weeks/months... My son and I kept saying, "what is wrong with this team?" I kept talking about maybe it takes time to gel...how does a team that looks this good on paper not look good in the standings? People questioned coaching, leadership, effort, the want to play the game. Finally, it started to happen... you could see some wins coming together. Binnington comes in and gets a shutout against Philly... and literally every Blues fan was like...did we just find a goalie? First answer was, nah...its probably just a fluke. Then, the 11 game winning streak...which I think Jordan B. won 9 of those. What people forget is Allen was part of the turnaround too...the starting goaltender doesn't start every start in the regular season. But what a turnaround... and in the last week of the season...maybe two weeks, if we don't lose to the NY Rangers we would have had first place. But we were confident going into the playoffs...we knew we could beat any team you put in front of us. But, as Blues fans you're always nervous. Always ready for the letdown. Because it has happened too much over 50 years. But after Winnipeg had taken both games 3 and 4 in STL...and we went back to WPG and Schwartz scored the winner with :15 left...we started to believe... It was different this year...it just felt different going into the playoffs now we had proof... I bought tickets to game 6 of the first round knowing we'd see them clinch that series...no way the Blues were letting the Jets off the mat. I could keep typing forever because I love this team. The one thing I've said allllllllll post season: "OUR STORY ISN'T OVER". It doesn't end until Pietrangelo hoists Lord Stanley's Cup... I'm hoping it's on home ice in game 6... If not, I'll take it on game 7 in Boston while my son and I are watching on the jumbotron in St. Louis at Enterprise Center. I love this team. I always have...and every Blues fan and I are ready to see the CUP in St. Louis...the parade is going to be nuts...we are going to party in the streets for weeks. Let's GO BLUES!!!

Hey love the vids. First off, you should wear whatever jersey you want to, it's your channel. I'm a blues fan and as long as you discuss both teams equally, then who cares what jersey you have on. Also, if I remember correctly, Robert Bortuzzo fought one of his teammates and the Blues went on a run within the few days after that. He jumpstarted them

I've heard alot of Boston media saying "The Blues only have one play style". Now I know that Bruins coach is alot smarter than I am when it comes to hockey, so I'm sure he doesn't believe that. But as a fan it always felt pretty obvious that the blues have alot of different looks. The big three I see are: The shutdown defensive play, They dominate the offensive zone (where the forecheck is strong and they shoot ALOT), and the outright aggression, where hits are the story for them (games 1 and 3 in this series) The thing is, it's hard to switch between these on the fly until you're comfortable in the series, AND the opponent has to be worn out on all 4 lines (which is REALLY tough to get done sometimes.) Looking at the state of boston in game 4, so far it looks like the blues aggression games have been effective. I'll be interested to see if the blues go for dominant offensive pressure like in game 4, in game 5 or if the decide to focus more on getting the hits to attempt because of the extra rest days. Personally IF chara and greztyk(spelling I'm so sorry boston fans I swear its not intentional) are scratched for game 5... go for the throat and come home up 3-2. What a series this has been and is shaping up to be.

Another fun fact for Blues fans (and I am sure most already are aware of this): The teams in the playoffs that have swept a round were eliminated the following round. Let's go Blues.!

You know what’s odd I live around the St Louis area and everyone is hyped that we tied it up and they’re saying we’re gonna do it this year or just 2 more games to go, but I know Boston is not gonna give up like San Jose they are gonna fight tooth and nail for this cup. They’ve worked equally as hard as the Blues playing teams like the Blue Jackets and the Leaves 2 very strong energized teams. I am a Blues fan and I really want to see them with a cup in their hands, but the series ain’t over yet. They still have to play hard and win 2 more games

Very interesting video, you may have noticed this too, but the blues seem to look stronger towards the end of every series, curious to see if that holds up

The blues are the quiet guy in the corner that you don't pay attention to until they stand up and punch you in the mouth. It's going to be a great series. But don't count them out until it's over. Oh yeah.....play gloria!

Great vid, as always. Also, please wear whatever gear you want to wear. I'm a huge Blues fan, and if you're a Bruins fan who wants to wear Blues gear in a Blues video, as has been your theme until now, go for it. Don't listen to the whiners in the comments, they'll always have some silly criticism. Keep the content coming.

He only wears the jersey of the team he thinks will win. Thinking Boston will win isn't too much of a stretch, but if the Blues win Game 5, he'll probably wear a Blues jersey for the Game 6 preview.

I love both teams but no one will tell me what to not wear far as being a fan. But the blues were horrible earlier this season in 2018 to 2019 season i had doubts about them making it to the playoffs too but today in the NHL? Shit is hard to tell and unpredictable as i expected. But come on blues win the damn thing this year do it for yourselves and especially st louis and Missouri

I am a Blues fan and I will be honest I did not have hope for the Blues. Considered them making the playoffs a win. When they beat the Sharks I was kind of in a shock but, playing Boston. I was a Blues fan that said Boston probably has it in 5. I will be honest this is some of the best hockey and most entertaining to watch. Minus the blowout game 3 but, I love how both teams play big, they play scrappy and they play together and I get so involved in the games. Can not wait for game 5.

Feels strange being from Chicago and being a hawks fan and rooting for the blues. I feel I owe it to them for spoiling Gary's sharks. Ridiculously insane call/no call that helped decide games/series. Gary must of had money on em... either way both teams played their asses off to get there
