Looking Back On The Super Mario Bros. Movie A Year Later

Well its March 10th, or Mar10 Day which might as well be a big holiday at this point. And I love Mario so much believe me I do. I love the games, world, everything. But I never got the chance to cover the Super Mario Bros Movie that came out last April, since I made my channel well after. And I really regret that I didn't because I would've loved to make one on it. So now practically a year later, I want to go into it now that I have the benefit of hindsight. It's a bit of a controversial movie with people loving it or hating it but I want to give my own insight on what worked about it and what didn't. And I really would love to hear your thoughts on the movie to see how people think of it now.

I had fun watching the movie, along with family members that played the games a lot for fun. Me personally I've only played the old mario game and mariokart for gamecube and I still liked the movie and noticed things from the games which I haven't played. Overall nice video bro!

I'm not the biggest Mario fan, but I saw the Mario movie last year and I liked it. I certainly loved the effort they put into the Mushroom Kingdom with all the little Mario-isms I did recognize and yeah, Jack Black's Bowser was the MVP of the film. And you made a good point about animated epics like Puss n' Boots 2. One every once in a while is great, but if every film was like that, then it's no longer special.

I agree with you on the unexplained aspects of the mushroom kingdom. Not everything about a fantasy world has to have a solid answer for why and how it works, because like you said, that would take away from the wonder and whimsy of it all. Personally though, I think the relationship between Mario and Donkey Kong was perfect. Both of them being heroes who can work together, but mostly tolerate each other at best, aligns well with their relationship and history in games. I just wish Luigi could've gotten as much time to shine alongside Mario as DK did.
