I see and get your point. I can't fault you for it and you obviously enjoy your hobby and the philosophy you've developed. As I'm sitting in my workshop I have 9 different axial rigs from scx24 to the Yeti XL (and an OG Scorpion) but I've also got Redcat, Traxxas, Exceed, Vaterra, Losi, Arrma, HPI, Team Associated, Yokomo, and ECX. Now I'm a full blown addict and I have no brand loyalty. I have more affection for Horizon Hobby brands because I started out and still do fly a lot planes and Horizon has everyone beat when it comes to warranty and customer service, at least in my experience. And although I have 3 Traxxas rigs I do not like how litigious and petty they seem to be, they have some very nice rigs. All that said, my point is every company, rig, and genre of driving types have there own feel, there own pros and cons and I want to try them all!! I agree with Kevin Talbot's philosophy of whatever puts the biggest smile on your face is the best vehicle out there. Good video and I like how you have your own philosophy but don't seem to throw shade anywhere you just say why you like to RC the way you do. It's good for the hobby. Thanks!

I really appreciate you taking the time to comment on this video. I have not heard that quote until today but I absolutely agree. The smile factor let’s you know which rig is the right one for you. I’m excited to see the evolution of the crawling community and the next innovation that will take things to the next level. I appreciate you taking your time again. Thank you.

It’s a solid platform for sure. The base camp might have to be the next rig.

With prices of everything going up I think having same platform vs multi platform is something to be considered when purchasing now. I truly appreciate the comment and support.

It’s a great platform for every aspect of rc trail/crawling. And aftermarket is second to none 🤷‍♂️

Axial definitely make some killer stuff. The parts transference is second to none in the aftermarket parts is second to none with these kits . My first experience with axial was when they made engines and use their engines quite a bit. I definitely like the product however what didn't really help in your video was was this vehicle was broken and then well this vehicle was also broken and this vehicle was also broken. That aspect of your video kind of made it sound like they break a lot which they don't. We all know every RC breaks but these are fairly reliable rigs.

I started out with a redcat gen7 and completely modified it. I wanted a more competitive rig so I built a gspeed from scratch using ar45 straight axles for a class2 and it has done nothing but impress since day 1. I’m now going to be building a scx10iii Jeep Wrangler JL but swapping to the ax10 3 gear one for reliability and two for weight. This will be my sleeper build for the trails so able to trail with the rest but also make jaws drop when it hits the rocks. I’ve been out with others that have the other brands and while they are very capable rigs I’m stuck on axial. I guess you could say I have become a fanboy but I chose them simply because it’s the simplicity and versatility that works. Great video and explanation of why axial is a great brand.

I appreciate the comment and support. Nowadays everyone is so competitive in the market. Vanquish may be the only company producing kits that are performance oriented that set themselves apart. Axial continues to push the envelope as well as Traxxas being so damn good. I do believe at some point RC4WD will need to step it up on the performance side. Scale is great but if the rig is so behind the times that it doesn’t make it fun that may be a problem. Especially at that price point. Excited for the future that’s for sure.

So many ways to go with axial. My stock scx10 iii jlu has kept up and done better than some modded trx4s. The platform is great.

I'm certain you are quite right. I've looked at purchasing Axial on a few occasions. Unfortunately once I discovered nothing but Axial is allowed at Axialfest (and the prices) I was turned off for good. Just something that seems against the true idea of holding big rc events. Wouldn't be more fun to have competion from any make and any person?
@thercsyndicate9867

Absolutely. I want to run against all brands. I think if Axial fest was treated like LS Fest, something Axial installed on your rig to qualify you, that would be cool. That way Axial as a brand would still be a reason why that rig won despite it being Traxxas base or etc….

My only problem with Axial was the price of the 10.2 vs what you got compared to other rigs in the same price range. They were just a huge ball of plastic in the RTR version and simple things like aluminum links and axles were absent on axial RTR. The 10.2 is a great platform and the ar44s are probably my favorite axles but compared to buying a sendero RTR ($375) that comes with aluminum shocks, aluminum links, stock overdrive, better electronics vs my scx10II Honcho ($350) literally everything was plastic. EVERYTHING. Now im not saying everything has to be metal, because thats not true. But its so cheaply made its pathetic what they were charging for it. Now that its on sale for I think like $260 as we speak, thats where the price should be anyways in my book. The thing that still drew me to buy 10.2s was the part support and aftermarket support. They were everywhere. But now Element has caught up in the parts and aftermarket department. BUT. I picked up the Basecamp when it was released and put a brand new RTR ECTO ($399) vs the brand new RTR Basecamp ($389) and although the Ecto out performed the Basecamp at just about everything, its still a great truck with a great starting point. Price wise it fits in that group much better than the 10.2 does and comes with some quality parts to start you off. The basecamp shocks are pretty decent. They didndt feel as smooth as the Element shocks right out of the box but after taking them apart and rebuilding them with green slime and different weight oil, I got them buttery smooth. The links are holding up well although the do get hung a little because of how the rod ends are made. The quality of plastic is less than the traxxas and element as far as feel and flex but its nothing thats going to hurt anything. The only thing i noticed is that when I put in a really high powered servo (Reefs 888) the stock servo tray had a lot more flex than the trx4 sport and element stock servo trays. But, when using my shifts x2 servo in all of them, they were all about the same. So, im not to worried about it. Anyways, my point is I think Axial is finally listening and making a step in the right direction with the Basecamp. Offering a rig with portals (im not a portal fan but its nice for most), aluminum bodied shocks and links and keeping the price competitive with others in that market was a great move. I cant wait to see what else they come out with!

I couldn’t have said it any better. When Axial knew they were the only ones in the game they could, I believe throw their weight around, but now it’s different. The TRX platform is great. Element great also. RC4WD has something to be desired but the point not the only players in the game. I think watching Vanquish go from $1000 kit to $600 kit put people on notice and Horizon also did. The base camp will be a new standard for comp style rtrs in my opinion and should only push the competitors even harder.

@@thercsyndicate9867 Absolutely. Competition keeps the hobby and market interesting and fun!! I'm waiting for Element to make a portal rig but then wonder if they ever will or even better, would it even be a smart move for them to go portal? Or what would be the next "standard" in crawling RTR rigs. Personally, I think portal and 2 speed are old news and boring. So, what could be the next big thing to attract the masses? I agree with RC4WD. They are great with scale details but their performance are absolutely atrocious lol.
