Thanks very much for making vid of all this. As a former zero gear beekeeper it is good to see someone work WITH the bees. I used to spread a sheet out in front of the hive and tip the bees onto the sheet. They seems to naturally climb up and so they walked into the hive rather conveniently. I used to collect swarms from gardens around dusk and drop them from the branch onto the sheet, tie the sheet corners up and pop the whole lot into the boot of the car. After dusk, took them to the hive , unwrap them and let them find the hive. They are very sensible creatures and as you have shown will not turn down good accommodation when it is presently to them. Cheers to you for showing us how it can be done with minimal fuss and bother.

You mention in your don't buy or build a hive until... from 7 years ago that three entrance holes on each side toward the ends is for swarm control, but your instructions for how to build a top-bar hive shows three in the middle of each side with one hole toward the end. Have you discovered that the three on each side offset to opposite sides are disadvantageous in some way?

I still use 3 each side. You may have an old copy of the plans.

Hey Phil, it’s nice to see you as always but, I wondering if you’ve retired from producing videos. I pray and hope all is well. You help so many people and I’m thankful for you. Do you also have skep colonies? I’m asking because of a previous video where you used one to collect a swarm.

Thanks for your kind words. I will be posting again very soon! I don't have skeps at the moment and no immediate plans to keep bees in them, but they are great for catching swarms.

Phil - I've been reading about your idea of the ECO floor. Are you still a proponent?

Yes, although it hasn't worked exactly as I hoped, but it still seems better than the alternatives.
