Hello SoundSuite - just wanted to say thank you kindly for offering AD2 suite. I have a small question. I like to have two pads that are kicks, how do I duplicate the kick pad without making another AD2 plugin. I imagine it would require doing your "audio feed" -> "ext. instrument" routing?

Awesome. Without creating dozens of audio tracks and ununderstandable movements. Thank you!

The ghost note generator part was very interesting, however, by the perspective of someone that is recently getting involved in DAW stuff, it did not show well how to implement it, but what it does. The first part was very good. I Didn't know how to properly use the AD2. Now I make my own drum racks to use it.

Can you please help me and explain how to just simply put a AD2 full preset kit into the drum rack?
@Toberaum4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jean-Paul // super interesting Stuff. Can you tell me if its possible to route the midi-signal of a Drum Rack pad back in to the drum rack via ext.instr. to play a sampler sitting on pad one for for example for triggering this sampler with other DR-Pads (you do this at min. 6:46) I tried - but in the ext.instr. device the option: "1-Drum Rack" does not pop up . thx!!!
@SoundSuite4 жыл бұрын
Had to check this for myself, but it appears not to be possible with Sampler; but only with plug-in instruments that have more than 1 MIDI channel input. It's possible with Native Instruments' Battery for example.

awesome! thank you very much. that will change my game. ONE question: How can I use plugins for each channel without influence each other? everytime I try to put a plugin on the kick channel it automatically manipulates the other channels too. Can this be prohibited? THANKS
@SoundSuite3 жыл бұрын
Hey there. Not sure what's going wrong there, as this shouldn't be the case. One of the main reasons I made AD2 Suite is so that you can use the separate chains for each kit piece. For reassurance, make sure you're not using the "2ch" preset, but either the "Pre Fader" or "Post Fader" presets.

Great tutorial Jean-Paul, thank you very much. I'm trying to do the same thing to Klevgrand's Skaka and Ting plugins, but as they don't have multiple outputs, I can't reroute the external instrument back to the drum rack. Do you have any suggestions for a work-around? Thanks!
@SoundSuite3 жыл бұрын
Hey there, thanks for the question! As you have noticed by now, this method currently only works when the plug-in/instrument you're using has multiple MIDI inputs.

@@SoundSuite Thanks for the response! I found a work-around by setting the drum rack to receive all inputs. Looking forward to future videos :)

Thank you so much for this! It's really great. I'm wondering, however, how i can add effects from ableton (or plugins) to each channel? It seems that it's not audible when i drop in effects in the racks
@SoundSuite3 жыл бұрын
Hey Torsten. If you take the pre- or post-fader preset, you can place any audio effect/plug-in on the individual chains in the Drum Rack.

Just got your rack and is absolutely crazy! Thank you so much for sharing this brilliant work! Subbed! One question: what's the difference between the Pre=Fader and Post-Fader versions and when should we pick one over the other?
@devalah4 жыл бұрын
Would it be too much to ask if you could show how to integrate this MIDI setup routing with Audio routing as well? That would be the ultimate drum killer. :)
@SoundSuite4 жыл бұрын
@@devalah Hey there, and thank you for the kind words! The answer to your question is in the manual, but I copy pasted it here for you: - Pre Fader preset - This preset disregards the internal mixer of Addictive Drums 2. The loudness of the channels is determined by the faders in Live alone. This causes the native drumkit presets to sound slightly different from the previews inside Addictive Drums 2. - Post Fader preset - The internal mixer of Addictive Drums 2 is still in use, causing the presets to sound identical to the previews inside Addictive Drums 2. You can determine the final balance of the sounds with Live’s mixer. - 2ch preset - All separate outputs have been disabled, and all sound comes out of one stereo channel in Live. All mixing must be done internally in Addictive Drums 2.

@@devalah I'm not sure what you mean exactly with your question regarding audio routing. What would your ultimate goal be in that situation? Could you give a bit more context?

This is amazing! Will groove packs still work naturally on the same track, or will all the note re-mapping confuse things? I recently built a similar drum rack to re-map a different plugin from Get Good Drums called One Kit Wonder and it ruined my ability to use any groove packs for the kit. Edit: What my plugin calls "grooves" AD2 calls "MIDIpaks"

Hello man, thanks a lot for your video, this is pure genius : you helped me a lot. I have been using your technique for some months now, but I'm facing some strange issue. I can't understand why, but when the snare hits in AD2, there is some white noise sound following it and decreasing slowly, and this really blurs the sound. I try turning off everything (any compressor, reverb, saturator, etc..) and the spurious noise still remains. Can you help me ? Thanks a lot, and keep going, your videos are awesome :)

Hey, my version of Ableton is just 1 too old for your 2.0 rack. Could you maybe send me the older version or walk me trough how i can install at least the AD2 drum rack?
@Mistalis5 жыл бұрын
Hey Jean-Paul, Do you know if it's possible to have a correct drum mapping for AD2 in Ableton (as it is for the included drums in Ableton)? I mean, instead of C1, C#1, D1 etc, I wish I could have the drum names (snare, kick etc). Thanks a lot for your help :)
@SoundSuite5 жыл бұрын
Hey Mistalis, from what I understand of your question, the answer is in the video; Yes, by putting the Addictive Drums 2 inside a Drum Rack and putting External Instruments on the other pads you can map and name the chains/notes.

Thanks for your videos im new to all of this, but just wondering would all this work the same with a notation launchkey pad??
@SoundSuite4 жыл бұрын
That would depend on the launchpad version you'd be using, and whether it supports the same amount of colors that Push does. :)
@Al-yg1lt9 ай бұрын
When I add AD2 Push Layout to a track in the whole set/project becomes very slow (adding tracks, devices, etc, almost all the actions), when the device is removed, it goes back to normal.

I believe I've seen that before, but I can't remember why this would be the case. Perhaps it's the license or version you're using? It's probably best to ask this to XLN Audio's support staff :)

Little update: Now included in Ableton 11 live intro and standard (No more need for max for live)
@SoundSuite2 жыл бұрын
Well, yes and no. Only the Ghost Note Generator contains a Max for Live LFO, but it's a MIDI variant of the with Live 11 included audio LFO. The only difference being that the MIDI version can live in a MIDI signal chain, which the GNG is exclusively. In other words, the Max for Live LFO that is used in the GNG is not included with Live 11 Intro/Standard.

Actually one more question if you don't mind - I'm trying to set up my AD2 drums now using a Drum Rack with one pad being the host AD2 VST (set to kick) and the next 15 pads near it to assorted other drums using External Instrument. I've named them, however when I go to edit the midi notes in the midi clip edit piano roll, I see all of the notes from C-2 to G8. Is there a way to only have it display the notes which I've bound to AD drum pads? It's really cluttered having everything there at once. Thanks for your time!
@SoundSuite4 жыл бұрын
Hey Brent. As far as I know the outcome you want should be the default. I'm trying to replicate what you're saying, but I only get the assigned pads to show up in the piano roll. What version of Live are you using?

Noob question incoming but im using AU instead of VST will that make any difference?
