Yeah you could tell over the course of KOFXV reveals the game looked subtly better and better. Even COTW already looks better than the initial trailers. Also it’s very funny how with every single SNK release since XIV everyone says “it looks way better in person”

Iori Yagami's laugh got me hooked on SNK for a couple of years. Looking at B.Janet, I wouldn't be surprised if they bring some DOA characters as guests since DOA has Mai & Kula in their games.

Garou is SNK's Darkstalkers Rock is Morrigan but a dude So yeah, people are more a fan of the characters/the idea of the game than have actually played or competed in it, but the visuals and vibes are a lot like SF3 too, so it has the hipster powers behind it as well Anyway, I think this will indeed be a good opportunity for people to jump into an SNK game if KoF was overwhelming on characters and learning movement, but I think the system is still going to be tough to get used to. The defensive options in this game are wild. Lots of games have Just Defend, but here you can buffer guard cancels behind your JD to punish things in like a 2f window (after you already hit the JD window) - it's so fast that you have to pretty much input the moves before the guard. Haven't even done it myself, but I also don't play Garou/no opportunity to play CotW yet. It even has an FD/Barrier type of guarding that pushes back. Everybody has a Robo Ky heat meter lol, and that also changes defense Feint cancels, breaks and those defensive system options are going to make it a high ceiling game for using the system well, and I'm looking forward to that since it's another way that SNK is leaning into keeping their stuff "hard". However I do think that their Modern style should be better than it sounds like it is. The game needs WAY more than KoF XV's autocombo lol

As a big Kof 15 fan who has never played any other SNK game, I'm really looking forward to COTW. I have high hopes for the gameplay being good but I just hope there will be minimal technical issues during launch.

I hear you on that thing about there being too many games. It's pretty hard choosing what to play. I only wanted to play SF6 and Guilty Gear but they had to announce City of Wolves. It looks really cool! And then there's that Hunter x Hunter game. I love Hunter x Hunter, but I'm probably not going to touch that game. There's just too many fighting games now. BTW I'm Mexican, not sure if that's why is it that we mexicans love our KOF and Fatal Fury games. 😅😅

To put it simply, Fatal Fury is SNK OG fighting game, and Garou (Fatal Fury 6 more or less) was an answer to Street Fighter 3. This one seems to be an answer to Street Fighter 6, a lot of the newer mechanics are similar. But SNK always has fun and tight gameplay, you know it's gonna be a banger to play. They have comes leaps and bounds with their 3D graphics (animations are not capcom level though). Now we just hope that they have learned from their mistakes with the online experience. If so it will easily be SNK's biggest game to date.

Green move is called Rev Blow. Everyone has a ground and an air version. They are really good moves with armor that the character only has access to while in SPG (the section of hp you select before the match). People have been comparing them to Drive Impact because of the armor but I don't think they cause crumple on counter and you can easily combo into them. They're also wildly different between characters, like Preecha's is a forward advancing uppercut that'll catch people throwing a projectile and Marco's is a flurry of close range punches.

This visuals look better than any recent SF game (although SF6 is much improved over SF5). A lot of the discussion on this one suggests the game may have some actual defense, unlike some other games. So I'm interested. This could draw me away from SF6. I don't see any other games coming up that would.

SF will always be my main fighting game. I'm an old school 2D man (could never gel with the bad looking tekken animations). COTW is looking like it's going to have a lot of tech to it. I'm definitely going to give it a go. But I already know that it won't replace SF for me. I'm happy to just learn Marco again and see it as a nostalgia trip.

It looks like they took KOFXV art style and put an anime filter on it to make it look a bit more colorful. I wish SNK went back to 2D style, in the vein of Arc System Works style or what Arcana Blood did with Iori.
