Acca Kappa brand is one of the most underrated fragrances out there. The white moss is the one which my whole family uses. It definitely passes as a unisex fragrance. I love fresh, clean fragrances but hate aquatic ones so i'm glad there is a clean, musky but still subdued one. I also love Calycanthus and still use it but I would always go back to White Moss if I had to repurchase.

Acca Kappa is a very underrated fragrance brand. If you’re looking for clean, sophisticated scents with a personality, this is your brand! I started with the classic White Moss, then Calycathus, and Glicine.

Hi Sebastian, this type of calycanthus is a shrub with very fragrant blooms called wintersweet. (Not to be confused with the Carolina Allspice native to the US.) It's a prized plant known for being an early sign of spring and highly fragrant. So of course this is the one yhat would most intetest me. Though that black pepper and sandalwood sounds pretty amazing. I live in the US.

Wow i can't believe you featured Calycanthus!! In the south we call it "sweet shrub" and its common for people to plant the bush in front of windows so the fragrance fills the entire house in warm weather! Smells like no other bloom. My favorite floral fragrance has been Kerosene "Pretty Machine" for 3 seasons now.

A great intro to this superb brand, Sebastian! I've been a huge fan of this Italian house since 2014 when I first discovered Muschio Bianco (not Blanco, though) on Fragrantica. I work in a hospitality industry where I am allowed to wear only light colognes, and Acca Kappa White Moss is the perfect choice for that requirement. I got LOTS of compliments wearing it. I always layer it with Penhaligon's Juniper Sling and get incredibly amazing results. :) I own eight bottles from this brand: Muschio Bianco (both parfum and cologne), Tilia Cordata, 1869 parfum, Calycanthus, Cedro, Ode, and Black Pepper & Sandalwood parfum. My favorite musk fragrances are 1) Siberian Musk and Russian Musk by Areej Le Doré, 2) Over The Musk by Thierry Mugler, and 3) For Him Musc Collection by Narciso Rodriguez. Tampa, FL.

All about sandalwood so the second bottle sounds like the right one for me. I'm not too keen on strong black pepper so I'm happy to hear it's a little more subdued. I've never heard of this brand and the way you discovered it was quite interesting. My favorite sandalwood fragrance has to be Sacred Wood from By Kilian. NY, USA

Calycanthus has my vote.. The first two sounded nice, but as soon as you sprayed it and said it was gorgeous, that was me. I'm exploring orange blossoms this summer, and I like Seville a l'aube and just tried some houbigant oranger en Fleurs from a sample from surrender to chance, which I'm enjoying. Great review, Sebastian! For me, Calycanthus is my favorite based upon its description. Since it is floral, I would have to say at the moment, my current favorite floral fragrance(s) would be either Diptyque's Olene or Oud Palao with the rose and oud. Also Dior's Oud Ispahan. USA resident! Cheers!

Sandalwood and Pepper. I have tried a few Sandalwood fragrances: TF Santal Blush, Dyptiques Tam Dao and Kilian's Sacred wood..... They are very faint on me and disappear quickly. Pure Mysore Sandalwood oil is best for me. Would love to try that one!.....

This sounds like a wonderful fragrance house. I don't own any scents from Italy. They all sound incredible. I am having a hard time choosing between Muschio Bianco and Black Pepper & Sandalwood. My favorite musk scent is Red Musk by The Body Shop. And my favorite sandalwood fragrance is the new scent by NEST called Cocoa Woods. If I am lucky to win, I think I'd go with Muschio Bianco. Chuck Goodpaster I own MB & have posted one of the only 2 reviews on Fragrantica where I flamed this stuff. Since I posted that I don't hate it as much now but I should tell you it doesn't project very well. I spray about 8. Sprays during summer. Starts out kind of lemon then turns into clean laundry smell. Doesn't have any moss in it though. That was taken out because of EU regulations. Lasts 3 or 4 hours

My favourite from this trio will be Black Pepper & Sandalwood and my favourite sandalwood scent so far is Agarbathi by Penhaligon's, but this is very complex scent and the sandalwood is not most dominant note, among more "sandalwoodie" scents I would mention my top 7: Dunhill Pursuit, Pasha de Cartier, Dune by Christian Dior, Costume National Homme, Bois du Portugal by Creed, Faconnable by Faconnable and Envy for Men by Gucci. Muschio Bianco is my go-to clean unisex fragrance. It's a classic and it is one of the best fresh/clean fragrances ever. I haven't smelled Black Pepper and Sandalwood but is the smell similar to Atelier Cologne's Santal Carmin?

Calycanthus sounds amazing. I'm not sure if it's truly floral, but I love Eau Savage from Dior. I purchased it on Air France, while on the way back to NY from Paris perhaps in 2010 and I still love it. -USA

So good to know about this house, for me it's totally new. I have two favorite sandalwood scents currently: Tom Ford Santal Blush and L'Artisan's 32 Venenum. Both offer a spiced take on sandalwood. I would LOVE Calycanthus! Unfortunately I do not know much about the flowers themselves, but I do know that seeds from plants of the family Calycanthaceae contain a molecule called calycanthine, which is a convulsant. There have been some reported cases of animal poisonings related to Calycanthaceae exposure, e.g., www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4690134/ (probably not what you were looking for but it's all I got haha) I live in Canada, and my current favorite floral fragrance is Rose Trocadéro.
