I agree, I was at a local Marshall's, I smelled a Jasmine Petals & Cedarwood eau de parfum, and was just blown away. The Cedarwood gave the Jasmine a chocolatey texture to it, and still kept the freshness of the Jasmine. So it is so wearable even in the summer heat of Texas. And I can totally picture wearing this in the colder days. I am generally not into florals on myself, even Rose, but now I can say I love Jasmine. So as you all said, if you're comfortable with a fragrance, wear it confidently and you'll be fine.

Real men (and women) wear Dior Homme. It’s one of my all-time favorites-the closest I have to a signature scent. It’s a masterpiece of contrasts-simultaneously masculine/feminine, fresh/woody, savory/sweet, light/dark.

I prefer the Iris note in Prada L'Homme which tends to be more soapy than Dior which tends more lipsticky. Out of the Dior line, I wear Dior Homme with the toned down lipsticky vibe. Prada for daytime, Dior for nighttime

Women of all ages love the Homme line on me. I’ve received a ton of great feed back over the past 5 years wearing all of the main ones, DH, DHI, DHS, DHP. I do have to say that the silver straw Homme was a tad fem but could be pulled off by the right man WHICH IMO was the intention all along from Dior. Their frags and Clothing are not for the masses and meant for the niche crowd that is fashion/fragrance aware.

First of all, Ashley has great insights and excellent taste. Bought DHI blind, based on emphatic recommendations from reviewers. It’s definitely not a traditional “manly” scent. Does smell like a makeup bag at the open, doesn’t project as much as I’d expected, but gets good reactions for women. Simple question: Do you wear scents for your own pleasure, or for the pleasure of your partner(s)? The answer likely varies by occasion. Personally, I was disappointed. Might have to give it some time. Finally, we’re not unisex - we have gender-based hormones. They are the fundamental drivers of scent-driven attraction. Let’s not pretend that doesn’t exist. Interesting commentary as usual.

I have never understood those who categorize fragrance as being masculine or feminine. There are many cultures in which men and women appreciate smelling floral. Likewise, as a woman I own many fragrances that are marketed towards men. I love tobacco fragrances, and woodsy scents. Why can I not smell like vetiver or a pine tree? I think that perhaps the American market might simply be too narrow minded. Scent is scent. Each day I choose to wear scents that define my mood and my dress. Sorry that you were upset by what must have been a comment by a narrow minded person. Love your comments and videos...

I think Dior does mens fragrance better than most designers maybe even the best. Dior homme cologne is one of my favorite summer fragrances period especially living in south Florida where is gets really hot and humid. Dior homme the original is also an amazing fragrance on it's own and as you can see has been copied by other designers and still is better.

I was stunned when I first encountered the Homme line because of so many reviewers stating it's "manly". Right off the bat it reminded me of my mother's fragrances growing up! Intensely floral, Iris and rose mixed with woods. Very powdery. Has a distinct lipstick type of smell. My mom had numerous Iris perfumes that were very close to this. It also reminds me of the fragrances I would smell when going to Clubs and dinners with my grandparents as a child. It's a wonderful scent but it just screams older women and gentleman, very feminine to me. And when I say older, I mean 50+

The DH Line is my favorite line of mens fragrances, but I admit that I didn't like all of them at the first sniff, it took me some time to appreciate the iris note.

Paper never does this line justice IMO. On a test strip it smells incredibly dry and cacao-y, which to me gives off the vibe of stale cardboard (I know, call me crazy). But on skin, everything blends together so nicely, and the sweetness comes out in the drydown. If I was to label it anything, it would certainly be elegant. PS - always love Ashley's tops. They just look so damn comfortable.

Fragrances aren’t for either gender. Chanel is wildly unisex and coco was the first perfumer to release a woman’s fragrance with a wood accord. Cartier declaration d’un soir has a heavy fresh rose note but I believe it’s considered male leaning. My favourite creed and I’m not actually much a fan of the house is Royal Princess Oud. Talking to some boutique salespeople they’ll happily reveal that they have a lot of clients whose signature scent is of the opposite sex. The only thing that I think makes you less of a man is being afraid to do what you want and refuse to consider unisex or traditionally feminine notes. EDIT: Hell, Old Spice was first released as a woman’s perfume and if you explore the the bouquet you’ll start to really notice the traditional feminine qualities of the fragrance yet it’s considered one of the atypical oldest of the old very masculine stink.

I'm not a huge fan of the iris accord in general, but when I say something is too feminine for me it means exactly that "for me" It's all about scent memory and personal taste. I have several fragrances in my collection that I love that many might consider too feminine for them... It's all relative. If one feels comfortable wearing a scent then the gender it's marketed too is absolutely irrelevant.

I just got Givenchy Gentlemen EDP not too long ago, and now comparing it to Dior Homme, wow.. both amazing fragrances. If you love Iris, get both and cycle between the two. As Ashley even stated, the Iris is surrounded by different notes to make it different enough to warrant purchasing and wearing both. Great video breaking down the Dior Homme line, and delving into Iris as a men's fragrance note.

Dior Homme does have feminine qualities with the floral powdery pear note, i find its almost an extension of J'Adore but it doesn't make one less of a man to wear it. Im not sure if Ashley said or not but id love to get her thoughts on Valentino Uomo Intense

I do believe fragrances have a gender to an extent. When we smell floral/rose fragrances the average person in a particular society might think it smells like a woman. That to me is smell that has a gender. I dont' think there is anything wrong with that notion. It's just that women were known to wear certain type of scents, just like they are known to wear pink and high heels. Doesn't mean a man can't do it if they desire. I don't think the dior homme line was meant for women. I think it just utilized maybe a feminine aspect.. Maybe a unisex smell but i don't think it's really meant for women in particular.. Especially dior parfum.. I never found dior homme edt that feminine either to be honest. I think the strongest case would be for DHI.. although anyone can wear anything at the end of the day and a scent might fit someones personality more than a gender. .. I also don't think that masculine scents disappeared, I think they just changed. When i smell sauvage, or adg profumo, or many others, i smell a masculine fragrance more than a feminine fragrance.. Hey Sebastian, first off been a fan for awhile! Great job by you and Ashley, you two really compliment one another and her insight is excellent. I understand people can wear whatever they want, but I do think certain fragrances and notes lean either masculine or feminine and that’s fine. Iris is indeed a polarizing note to me. DHI was the first fragrance I smelled from the DH line and my first impression was that it was a feminine fragrance. I like the way it smells but is not something I would want to smell like. I do own DH, DHS, and DHC and think they’re all solid fragrances but definitely unisex. I think as fragrances continue to be more unisex there’s a reason things like Aventus, Terre D’Hermes, and ADG Profumo get a lot of hype in the community because they lean distinctly masculine to my nose. I do agree that most people’s reference of what is masculine or feminine smelling in our western culture can be a bit limited so when someone calls the DH or DHI as being for women it’s not surprising; the main note it dries down to is a powdery iris after all, not something we in the west think of as masculine. Really good video. It was not a surprise for me that someone stated that the Dior Homme line is for women, it is not necessary to be under the influence of substances to say that. I do love and wear two of the line, and I think they are the best of the best. But I do understand that some men and women find the line-up feminine; as George said, it is a new concept of men's fragrances.

Whoever commented is too ignorant to understand that most designer fragrances currently sold are unisex fragrances that simply have a male or female association attached to them by marketers. For example, I think that Invictus Aqua, Pure Malt, Bleu EDP and others are very unisex

Definitely not for women... but definitely unisex. The Dior Homme fragrance was launched when Hedi Slimane was the creative director and he popularized the ultra skinny androgynous aesthetic (his suits were super popular among women even though the label said Dior Homme). Super interested in what his fragrances for Celine will be like.

As a newbie to the world of fragrances, it's good to hear that Dior homme has a powdery element. As a child, being hugged and kissed by women wearing powdery perfums turned me off on that characteristic for life. Powdery to me is a blocker to the complexity of the scents. Bought some Creed Aventus, Bentley Intense and a sample of Lalique Encre Noir online today. Hope they're not powdery. Could you do a video on scents that have clarity with no powdery element to them? DH is my reference scent against which every other fragrance I experience is ultimately judged. As such, iris/oris has become my one of my all time favorite notes in perfumery. I must confess that lately I’m falling in love with Chanel La Pausa EDP. Love the rubbery earthiness of it, so damn good!

I really like the Dior Homme Cologne version as I find the combination, or contrast, between the citrus and white musk very sexy when applied on skin, Even though the fragrance has a significant fruity note on paper.

As a man I wear some 'women' and 'men' fragrances, if it smells good I'm wearing it, the bottle could say FOR WOMEN, I'll still tell the SA I'll buy it cause it smells good!

No.... not my DHP!!! Maybe it will be a Prive/Exclusif! It's definitely niche quality and the ingredients are probably hard to get or expensive.

Fragrances, in my opinion, have no gender. If it smells good, I'm going to wear it! It's all how you hold yourself.

Not necessarily true there are some fragrances which unless you're feminine man you wouldn't get away with wearing. I'm not referring to these fragrances in particular. Similarly a woman couldn't get away with wearing a fragrance like Dark Rebel unless they were really masculine.

I agree i use to wear a 10$ designer fragrance that everyone was crazy about including myself for 2 years straight as it became my signiture.what i didnt know is it was the female version.i only knew once it became hard to find and told the sales assistant to give me the other version then she told me oh u mean u want the male version from the same line?lmao.to this day it is my most complimented from both women and men and who ever i recommended it was saying this fragrance is unbelievable.lesson i learned is if you smell good you smell good even tho you smell like a flower instead of the typical fresh masculine scent.

The Intense was the only one I couldn’t personally comfortably wear. Smells fantastic just too fem on me. The others are fine. The leather in the original and the Parfum easily temper the iris and bring each well into masculine territory. 👍🏻

I have a full 75ml of the DHP and a back up bottle. the DHI is not for me i prefer the DHP for winter/fall and dior homme is preferred for spring etc along with professional settings. DHP i have to admit.... though is by far... the most just.... breathtaking fragrance ever especially during winter.. it just warms my soul up honestly.... and i always get compliments after a hug or whatever "Omg you smell amazing whats that" and when im like "Dior" they're like "really?"

The ones I’ve tried are unisex, to leaning slightly feminine. I don’t think it matters, wear what you like. People are silly; this commenter obviously has issues they need to deal with.

I appreciate Dior appealing their homme line frags for the manly man, the florals man and the girly man
