if you threw a tremolo on there, all you'd need is a drum loop tape, and it would literally be an instant lofi hip hop station that you could both gig with, and improvise on. shit, if you could direct in from a live drum kit into that, you could literally have a 2 piece live lofi hip hop band. the stage presence of a rock band, with the beats of a crate digging DJ.

Firstly, bending the high E (6th string) down rather than up without slipping of the fretboard. That's just Boss :D. Amazing vid as always, I imagine building a modern day guitar with USB/flashdrive support and minimum play controls wouldn't be that hard. And yet, nobody's done it, or have they? :) The idea of recording your own loops on the instrument itself, to play over, and with NO COMPUTER, sounds like the best thing ever :). The CK-500 is definitly on my list. Have you seen the Casio Ck-200,Casio KX-101, or the Fisher sc-300 aka the Sanyo kbx-7? Closest thing I own is the casio rap studio. I'll own all the keyboard/cassette combos someday though.

@@MrGeoffashley I was born late 80's and have a soft spot for Casio's of that era. I have quite a few, including the Ultra rare Va-10 with mic input and fx including a pseudo vocoder. I also own an RZ-1 and was lucky enough to get the samples tape with it. I've also tracked down a few of the SK1 cassettes as well. Closet is filled with casio's. The company that wasn't afraid to take risks. Who needs a guitar with a built in cassette? EVERYONE!

Always such a unique sound. They used to have such a bad rap in the 80’s, 90’s, and early 00’s...written off as cheesy toy sounding keys...but I loved them. And the company as a whole..they made everything from cassette guitars to calculator watches. Outstanding!!

I never knew these things had been made. Quite interesting both you and Hainbach wound up getting them and posting videos about them on the same day. They do look far more useful than Casio had likely thought they would be. Albeit for radically different reasons than was almost certainly intendedv or imagined by the manufacturer.

@sam. Maybe try adding a center detent pot between the left and right output of the tape circuit to allow you to fade/mix between the two. That would give you access to two independent loops. I would look into the "distortion" circuit myself. Maybe add a pair of diodes on a dpdt rocker switch? Never tried but I wonder how hard it would be to modulate the voltage input to the motor to get some wow/flutter? Seems like it wouldn't be difficult. Only worry being undercurrent and burning up the motor.

A guitar with a cassette deck is crazier than the Pignose amp guitar. I was gonna say “I’ll take one of those”, but it’s better for a novelty. (At the same time, if any of these suckers are available through the vintage market, I think their price just went up.) The distortion almost reminds me of the Tom Scholz Rockman X100, which I used to have one of. That also was quieter with the distortion on.
