As a live synth band , we can fully relate to the struggle of carrying a whole synth beast because in the end of the day it's the feeling of playing live that matters and not just karaoke-ing .

What a multi-talented chap. As a boy I used to play fiddle in a folk band, and a couple of the elders in the band were clever like you. One of them was a boat builder so we used to have all these speaker cabinets, stands, synth bass box for the accordian, even amps that were home made from marine ply and other boat building materials & fittings, wrapped in vinyl or painted black. Watching you practice your various crafts reminds me a bit if this and gives me a warm nostalgic feeling inside. The motivation, can-do attutude and skill you demonstrate in pulling this off us exceptional. You are already rewarded, even if not with money, but I hope you have this too. Terrific.

I love that you built the cases your self because honestly ive wanted to do something similar. I wanted to make a table/keyboard stand that i could hook up second or third tier keyboard stand hook ups in the back. But i wanted the legs or one leg of the table to have 19" rack mount hook up for some of my processing units and compressors. Maybe even use that behringer eurorack rack mount kit i bought and never set up. I know i can do it but i wish i had a CAD program or somethig i could draw it up first with because otherwise ill just buy wood and start cutting. We all know that will end up with buying more wood when you mess up that first time 🤣

I love seeing anyone increasing their modular setup. My stupid metric for improving my little AE modular (I went that route for cost and space concerns) is to make the most annoying sound possible or the biggest farting noise. I'm not exactly joking. If it can do that then it kind of shows the potential you can do with it and therefore makes it worth doing. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. I may change to a Behringer modular setup at some point though.

Look at Sam going all fancy pants with his off the shelf parts and expensive wheels not from a shopping trolley. What next screen printed face plates in a smooth font! In all seriousness this all look awesome and any little tweaks that take some of the headache out of live performance the better. Also love London but it is a bitch for RF and EM leaking out of everywhere and feels like any wire longer than 1cm becomes an aerial for every stray signal. Hope the new kit helps filter out some of the noise.

I actually made a U-shaped desk out of 12U rack cabinets I had made at a previous job. What's nice is you can get drawers, shelves, networking equipment, etc. that rack mount. All together I have 72U of rack space across six cabinets. Highly recommend building desks that way 😀 The desk sits in the middle of my office room and I can access the devices from front and back.

@mllarson

@@FUNKINETIK No, but if I ever clean up my office (I'm chaotic) I should probably at least photo it and upload them somewhere. Just imagine two of the cabinets side-by-side together, then a space for your legs to sit comfortably, and then another cabinet. Now mirror that layout for the other side. Finally, put three desk surfaces on top in a U-shape. I actually sit at the "bottom" of the center of the U (if you were to look overhead), so the cabinets are surrounding me. I had these in a different configuration but then bought a house and had some more cabinets made and ultimately came up with this arrangement. Works wonderfully 🙂

About the wheels you put on the base cases, youtube creator I Like To Make Stuff use quite often a type of wheels where you dont have brakes, but can instead fully fold up the wheels so that the case sit directly on the floor when you dont want it to move. Look around for AKG HSC271 or AKG HSD271 headsets (HSC is a condenser mic, HSD is a dynamic one). Same basic idea as Beyerdynamic DT 797, but I saw these models go for cheaper. The cable also detaches on the headphone side: it's a 6-pin miniXLR to XLR+1/4'' stereo jack. They also mute the mic when you flip it up.
