Sam this is amazing! So funny that I was imagining Jeri Ellsworth when you actually said her name two minutes later! I LOVED her solution to keeping the surrounding electronics at the conventions where she plays from interfering with her bass’ pickups. Her solution? Trash the typical pickups and install Little piezo inducer discs that she clipped and placed beneath her bass strings! Soo IF you get any EMI issues or interference from nearby arcade pinball machines, maybe you ought to install a piezo inductor array for a secondary pickup option?! For someone who’s outward appearance would suggest a grimey and pretty rugged person, you REALLY do have it together. AWESOME!! Oh yeah, NICE ROUTER!!

Ay, idk if you read enough of the comments to see this - on the issues you’re having w/ G2M recognizing the lower notes, you could convert the input signal an octave up? Digitally this is done by taking the absolute value of each sample, effectively folding the negative parts up. I’m not terribly familiar with the analog equivalent but I know I’ve seen schematics for it before that only require a handful of components. Then while processing the MIDI signal you can shift the pitch back down an octave to get the note that was originally played.
@chrishopkins209

Well everyone’s gonna tell you the same thing, you need to specify price limits, as well as what sounds you’re after. This isn’t something someone else can decide for you, do some research and within a year you’ll have a better idea of what you want to get. I personally own a Moog Grandmother and a Make Noise 0 Coast. Both great synths but totally different sound and workflows.

@@LOOKMUMNOCOMPUTER Is that because of phase problems between the bass string and the synth wave? What if you had a control on the synth that allowed you to phase-align the two? You get similar problems sometimes when a bass and a kick drum cancel each either out in a studio situation, and end up with a tragic loss of low end. Popping the phase on the bass often brings the boom back. Does this chip give you a way to set the phase at the start of a note?

It would be awesome if you used a tremolo lever instead of the knob in order to use that more easily! Anyways is a great idea and awesome sounding stuff!

Read the title and was hoping to see Jeri Ellsworth's bass... not disappointed! :) When I customised my guitar, I just hacked a huge chunk off the a tenon-saw thinking "there's got to be a nicer way than this" and, now, I see... router... obviously!! Nice!

YES! I've always wondered if you'd ever make your own guitar synth after the couple videos you did on the Casio and the Roland, this is so dope!

I was just checking videos for info for building my own small minimalist bass...and I stumbled on this. Totally mad, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Way more than I am aiming for, lol.

I wonder how hard it would be to be able to “lock” in a couple specific settings so you could preset them and just flick a switch as you played

All your words make sense to me mate because I've been using MIDI since the 1980s and I understand electronics, love your MODs and inventions completely unique, like an artist retro fitting custom fusion of technology spanning decades, brilliant...your bass synthesizor is sick...built in octaver and adjustable synth parameters with loads of knobs...gnarly as all hell...I want one...
