I'm not in the market for this kind of animal. But if I was and I did a short commute and could home-charge then I'd be quite happy to tool around in one of these. Apple Carplay as standard? Bonkers, mate. Terrific value compared to most EVs. Or non-EVs come to that. Great review.

Thanks bud. Absolutely ideal for people who just want something to get them from A to B.

As a car enthusiast that is usually all against EVs, a cheap EV that weights 980kg really excites me

What do you think of it? Would you have one? For less than £15k (or £200pm if you get one on tick) I definitely think it's something you should consider. Especially if you want to avoid being shafted by the government with road & luxury car tax.

We’ve had one for a couple of weeks, great little car. Very nippy up to 50 mph, actually quite quick 30-50, which is the real benchmark for a commuter/ shopper. Charging overnight from a 13amp, domestic 3 pin, no problem. Very easy to drive, particularly like regenerative braking mode, which I don’t recall you mentioning. On my tariff, compared to our previous Sandero Stepway, (50. Mpg) we are getting equivalent of 170 mpg. The Frunk kit cost £125.00, not £265.00. So far very happy. My other car is a classic Saab with a 3 litre turbo V6, so the little Dacia, does all the short journeys.

I didn't realise you could spec the Frunk by itself so that's good to know 👍 There were a few things I left out, purely because I forgot haha - regen braking being one of them. It's good, but not as strong as I thought it would be.
@alanmole72924 күн бұрын
@ If you switch on the Road speed sign recognition, the regen seems to bring you down to the speed limit, but I find it wonderful for a fast exit out of bends, well I use the term “fast” rather loosely, but it feels fast.

@alanmole7292 I think the lack of engine noise makes it feel quicker than it is strangely...

This car isn't a true Dacia. This is a rebadged, redesigned Renault KZE. It is made in China. Still, for a drive in town from A to B, it should do the job.

It's actually a Renault kwid sold in India and Brazil

That's a nice review, this car with petrol engine would be great little commuter. I still think cheap EVs are going to make you miserable in the long run, infrastructure is poor and expensive if you want to charge it elsewhere other than your house, the amount of different apps you need to install and the battery charging times are too high.
@ziggarillo5 күн бұрын
Infrastructure is fine, and you can get by with a couple of apps. I've only charged 3 times away from home in the last 2yrs. I occasionally get paid to charge my EV by Octopus, costs me about £2 a week on a bad week, when there no free electricity 😊 Charging times are not an issue when you do it when you get home.
