Loon Lake Elementary launches balloons for school year and 9-11

As part of the welcome back to school activities, LLE held a balloon releas- ing celebration. Anita Qonja, LLE principal, spoke to staff, parents and students, saying, "It is time for us to get ready for a new Loon Lake tradition.... A balloon release! Each of you took the time to think about a wish you have for this school year. Some of you may have wished to make a new friend, some of you may have wished for more time to read and some of you may have wished to get good grades. Whatever your wish is, it is special and important to you! In a few minutes, we
will release our balloons. As you watch your bal- loon float up and away, I want you to take the time to think about how you will make your wish come true! What will YOU do in order to help your wish come true?"
"In the end, in memory of 9-11, two bunches of red, white and blue bal- loons will be released.
As they float up, please take a moment to remember those who were touched by the tragic events of 9-11," she added.
