Sources differ but according to some accounts, Empire star Jussie Smollett was dissatisfied with the salary he was getting on the show and demanded a pay raise many times. It got to the point where the producers of Empire got tired of his demands and planned on killing his character off for the show's fifth season. He found out about this and staged a racial hoax on himself in the hopes that newfound fame and attention would convince the show runners to keep him on and up his salary. Kirstie Alley's version of events is not supported by anyone else involved in ST 3. Rather, her agent asked for a much higher fee--higher than Deforest Kelly, a bedrock of the franchise, was getting for the film. I think these stuidos do this as a precendent. The reason being, if one actor in the cast starts demanding more money than the other actors in the cast are going to follow suit. It's not only for a series they have to this, but also for the whole studio network. There could be no end of actors wanting more cash however there's something called a budget. Sometimes it can not be avoided. Peter Falk is an example. The Columbo series was more than just popular it became an epic. Falk was irreplaceable. The Sherlock Holmes character has been played by dozens of actors over the years, but no one, but no one could be Columbo except Peter Falk. He became the roll.
@kevinhealey65402 жыл бұрын
However, if the studio is desparate for some actress or actor to play a part, they will indeed give an inducement. Natalie Wood instead of taking a fee for the film "Bob, Ted, Carol and Alice, was given 1% of the total profit. She made 30 million instead of the 3 mil, which was her standard fee.

That's funny about Paris Hilton and demanding top shelf Grey Goose, as it's a mediocre vodka at best... When the company wanted to turn around it's dismal profits, they didn't make the vodka better, instead, the marketing dept. just re- packaged it with the fancy-dancy bottle and CALLED it a TOP SHELF premium vodka... it worked, because a lot of fans bought the scam, including my son's wife... LOL ... Of course he found her a new brand, saving lots of cash, after I explained Grey Goose's great marketing ploy.

Some of these folks did ask for raises but how can you call it being fired if in negotiation an actor asked for too much and didn't get the job being fired?
@nunyabiznes332 жыл бұрын
Should they really include actors that got lowballed? It's not asking for more if they want to pay you less than what you got paid for.

I dislike the use of the term "greedy" here. So many of these actors were working on huge hits. They were simply asking for more of a fair share of the profits.

In many cases productions just need to take care of their acting talent, period! Often wrecks the show and ends up being bad for everyone involved.

@@HoldenNY22 You sir, are correct. He didn't own slaves and was definitely against slavery. The man was a brilliant tactician and I believe his tactics are still taught at West Point. Probably why the statues and naming of military bases. Not because of slavery. Blacks should of been free when we got our independence from Britain but the democrats held them back. Just like they're doing today.

A pity about Katherine Heigl. A beautiful woman of some talent, she destroyed herself. She went from leads in "A" list films to supporting or guest roles on cable TV channel shows. Her greed and her inability to get along with fellow cast members wrecked her career. Bigger and more beautiful stars than her have learned to control their egos.

In the case of the Dukes, I believe that the studio wasn't honoring the contract and not paying them what they had coming. They did the same thing to James Garner in the Rockford Files show. Studios are crooked.

I would expect that most of these were getting paid less than they wanted because they had smaller parts or weren't viewed as the big draws in these films and shows. Thats seems fairly reasonable.

You missed Bruce Willis when he tried to strong arm Stallone for Expendables sequel. This is when Stallone got upset and sent semi-obscure tweets about it. Thats when he said "Willis is out. Harrison is in!" He also said he never had the chance to work with Harrison before and doesn't really know why.

I love the line used to explain Church (Bruce Willis' character) not being in the film. Stallone:- "Where's Church?" Ford:- "Church is out of the picture".
