People forget... Christmas is a *dark* holiday. There are lights, sure, but they're meant to shine in the darkness of Winter when all is dead and frozen. The divine fulfillment of an ancient promise stands in contrast to the vanity, tragedy, and brutality of existence in our fallen world. It's the joy *in the face of* the tragedy that makes it so powerful. Nothing wrong with the happy happy stuff -- and a lot of this music is actually pretty dark even as traditionally performed -- but this mix gives the holiday a well-deserved edge. It is the most epic of all holidays.

It really is-epic, and light in the darkness! The One whose coming we celebrate came to rescue us from the likes of Krampus (mentioned in another comment)-and giants, dragons, and gods (more real than you might think!) -anyone aligned with our enemy-and the final enemy which of course is death. The Hero of all heroes defeated ALL OF THEM. But the battle between good and evil rages on…to decide each person’s destiny. Epic indeed!

Uh, no. I'm not even a Christian and I know your post is full of BS. It's a celebration of the birth of the Christian messiah. The early Christians picked the date so it would match a pagan holiday, thereby making it easier for the pagans to convert.

Not in the messiahs birth itself, but the actual fact that a king was actually attempting to kill the messiah and killed countless children and newborns trying to do so (according to the Bible.) Christmas is the representation of victory if you think about it even on a Christian standpoint. It represents the victory of Mary conceiving the messiah, as well as a modern victory of surviving the winter and the year as a whole. Edit: I mean, even if you don’t follow the Bible, what other reason would Mary and Joseph choose to give birth in a stable in the first place, and how and why the three wise men had to actually follow a star to find the messiah and to leave the kingdom they originally came from after doing so.

I feel like epic and dark versions of Christmas songs arnt meant for just Christmas but for every holiday, they represent the use of lights and color to shine away darkness. This month isn’t just christs birthday, it’s the shine of yule, the candle of honika, the fear of spirits and sending them away using one’s own spirit. Hey they should turn Santa into a Marvel super hero. Like an ultra badass Paul Bunyan or something. Cruising around with 8 massive moose instead of reindeer, with razor sharp antlers, all hyped up on adrenaline during peak rut. They rampage and trample all the bad guys who try to hurt the children.

​@@0ak3nshi3ld88 I like this idea. Dreamworks animation kind of did this with their bad ass version of Santa Claus, Nicholas St. North in "Rise of the Guardians." He looks tough like someone you don't want to get angry, and he is an excellent warrior. The animation is child friendly, of course, but Dreamworks does show North is a skilled warrior. He fights to protect children from evil magical creatures who scare children, as well as delivering Christmas presents. His reindeer are normal, but his sleigh is very high tech. He is gruff but has a kind heart. I believe he is the leader of the team of The Guardians of Childhood.

We Three Kings always gets epic fast. This version has me thinking of three renegade elves slipping through the Frozen Curtain to find Krampus, the one who might be able to stop the Mad Claus from carrying out his plan of Last Christmas. Not everyone made it... Merry Gentleman is the montage where Santa is putting the outriggers and doorguns on the sleigh.... Silent Night, the moment we find out Santa's payload is chemical. And what you do with Frosty brings to mind approaching the Pole through a blizzard. O Holy Night, slipping past the gaurds and the zombie reindeer to sabotage Santa's ships. All Ye Faithful, fomenting mutiny against the Mad Claus. Three Ships, three sleighs got off the ground. Oh Christmas Tree, our heroes and Claus with his most loyal, playing lethal hide and sneak in a spruce forest while the crashed sleighs burn, including the fight between Santa and Krampus with blazing trees around them.
