When I read this poem I took it as a eulogy for a lover. He writes WE so the end of roving might come from either partner.. The repeated "be still", words to comfort someone passing. The second stanza is a musing lament on mortality, his own and this partner's and all of us.

It’s truly amazing sir you just saved my Byron essay! The way you structure and convey information is awesome. I’m A level English literature student studying Romantic poetry, and your Byron videos are truly the best, I’d really appreciate if you decide to do more romantic poetry analysis videos, like Wordsworth and Shelley for example. Thank you so much!!

If I may ask, why is the ending interpretation still that Byron might rove again? I was suspecting that Byron would give up roving for good due to the reflective tone of the poem.

Very good video by the way, i’m just curious on that one point. It’s a great dissection of Lord Byron’s hedonistic tendencies and the regret associated with them.
