Jeez, I feel so much with this song. Normally, I don't feel anything, an endless void of nothing. Then, if I listen to certain songs, I can feel sad, or insane, loved, but never happy. I can't normally explain how I feel, but I can when there is music like this. Here's what I envision when I listen to this song. A guy is sitting in his car, holding an article of clothing. He sighs and looks out at the driveway he recently pulled into. He reminisced on the days with her. She made him feel things he'd never felt before, vulnerable, embarrassed, apprehensive. Loved. But after a year of dating, she started to not immediately turn her head toward him when he entered the room. She would be quiet when they went out on dates, or she wouldn't hold his hand when they were out and about. He wouldn't push it though, because he didn't want her upset, he hated it when she wasn't happy. She would notice other guys, and didn't smile as much. She picked fights with him more often, and he eventually saw less and less of her. One day, he was out getting groceries for his mom, and he saw her with a popular guy from school, who never had a substantial relationship. He would dream too. Of her. She wouldn't leave him alone in his resting hours. She confessed that she lost interest, and that he wasn't good enough for her anymore. He fell into a deep depression after it. He would wander into the night, searching for a reason to live. He would look at the sky, and found that the stars were worth living for. And mom. Mom and the stars. One night, he made a wish like no other. "Take me back," he'd whisper to the stars. "Take me back to the night we met." He was tired. He was sick of the voices in his head telling him to beg her to take him back. He was sick of glares at school from the rumours spread about them. He wanted to go back, and never have to deal with the pain of her lost love. He never realized how much his happiness was derived off of her's. He smiled at the stars. "I'll live." He smiled as a stray tear left his eye. "I'll live if only to watch her be happy with those she loves, even if it isn't me." He never found another love like her. The ghost of her happiness, her love, her touch, existed in his very being. Every night, he'd make a wish to the stars, wish to go back, then sleep with the memory of her next to him.
