www.vladtv.com - Never one to bite his tongue, Lord Jamar sat down with VladTV and shared his thoughts on Azealia Banks calling out Iggy Azalea, saying he really respects Banks for speaking her mind, while also calling out Iggy for claiming "rap has nothing to do with Ferguson." Iggy's stance on Ferguson prompted the MC to lash out with "b***h, you crazy," citing Hip-Hop's rich history of taking a stance on political issues, especially police brutality.
Jamar also shows love to Macklemore, who was one of very few rappers seen marching on behalf of the latest victims of police violence against African-Americans, saying he knows a lot of black people who wouldn't march, so he respects the Seattle rapper for standing up for what is right.
Check out the clip above.

Of course iggy would separate ferguson from her career. She is ignorant to the fact that sociopolitical & socioeconomic issues and hip hop have been intertwined since the beginning. She didn't listen to Q-Tip when he tried to tell her that. Now she's saying that her career in rap is unrelated? Girl, please. Get out of here.

Anyone who agrees with Lord Jamar is what's wrong in America. He keeps saying "Black industry" "black this or that" that mentality is what keeps racism so relevant today. There shouldn't be a black OR white industry. If a black artist wants to sing some country, more power to him. If a white female wants to rap, why can't she? You're quick to blame white people for discriminating, and here he is talking down to Iggy for something that has nothing to do with her.

At the end of the day, it just simple do not go out buy albums from hip hop artists who do not want to help your community. I will never buy an Iggy album or single because she does not give a damn about the black community. But I will buy an album from J.Cole,David Banner , Killer Mike, Tef Poe, Kendrick Lamar,and Lauryn Hill because they will not "sit back" as innocent blacks are being killed. Same goes for Young Thug,Nicki Minaj, and Lil Wayne I will not buy their albums because they are silent on issues concerning blacks

Gaines Don But do not paint all black people with "one brush" because there were some blacks in Ferguson that protected those businesses from being looted. At the end of the day it just simple. Stop making "wack rappers" such as Iggy rich and famous. Invest in rappers who are intelligent.

Nicki Minaj has actually spoken about police authority. She also has a few social media posts on her Instagram and Twitter talking about Black rights. Back when Eric Garner was choked, she posted an image. Snoop Dogg also has posted pictures on Black rights and racism. Sure, Nicki and Snoop are not out in the streets holding signs, but they're doing something, ahead of Iggy. I praise Nicki for posting many inspirational images on her Instagram. She has a young fanbase, and she spreads the word through social media, since that's where many people tend to spend their time.

Lord Jamar is basically putting down Iggy Azalea for faking to be "Hip Hop". Yet he praises Drake? He doesn't rap like a Canadian, isn't black, not raised around black folks, didn't come around black folks until he was famous,used black folks to get fame and money, didn't grow up in Hip Hop culture and doesn't really understand it. With that being said Lord Jamar praises this dude when he really has the same background as Iggy the only difference is that he has a black dad( who he claims wasn't shit tho). Wow

He had his dad in one of his videos, so what does that tell you about their overall relationship? And Canadians from border cities like Toronto and Vancouver don't sound all that different from Americans. Jamar is all about black. I understand Jamar and i am not even black. He should feel very protective about black culture because he put work in it and sees young ignorant using it as a cash flow. Guess what if you don't protect your land your house your country it will become the enemy's land house country music and then down the road you black people will cry out again on how hip hop was stolen from you. Lord Jamar is not a racist he is conservative until white people acknowledge their wrong doing against black people. I respect that. Hip hop is a vessel to denounced any discrimination, pain, etc not to talk about pussy and ass and shit. Shame on you black people for selling your culture to white people or corporation. You are all worshipping Diddy, snoop dogg etc but what did they do for your community? Those "GANGSTERS" are now the bitches of those corporation and they tell them what to rap about and how to dress etc. If you cannot see that then you are blind!!!

the ferguson thing is stupid, there were hundreds of black rappers/actors who didn't show or even commented on the ferguson situation, no reason to single her out. also the grammy award thing is stupid as well, because chances are some black artist who makes music just as bad as her would of won. no one realize that the white teenagers who vote for iggy are the white version of the black teens who would likely give bobby shumurda best new artist. MF DOOM, greatest rapper ever, never won a BET award, not sure if he was ever even nominated. most people who are complaining about her winning don't notice that even black run award shows almost never give the awards to underground rappers (black or white) who usually are far superior to the mainstream ones. wait until the BET awards comes; run the jewels, open mike eagle, pharophe Monch, Bus driver, freddie gibbs, clipping, and shabazz palace will lose. maybe not gibbs, he got popular. the one thing she has done that someone could find offensive is the southern voice, that's not how she naturally speaks. But do you listen to rappers with british accents? Hip Hop fan won't accept someone with a foreign voice and you have to conform to hip hop. she did that, just like rick ross stole someone else's name, history and lied about selling drugs to get famous; he stole a background she stole a sound, same thing in my eyes, fakeness. she more of a pop artist than a rapper, she's a pop rapper like flo rida and pitbul.

A major part or just a part some artist used. Just because songs about politics and social issues exist in a genre doesn't mean the genre is politically based. Why, exactly? Somebody help me! I need answers!
@MXRX
@MXRX 9 жыл бұрын
No, Iggy brought up donating money. Ferguson doesn't even need donations they need support. Especially from rappers because they have a responsibility to the black community because that's where it originated. Regardless the Cops are fucked up for what they do. So for Iggy not to speak up when she has that kind of power is a "no no".

Morris Ratliff Iggy bought it up because Banks social media bullied her. And again, why Ferguson specifically? Why does Iggy have a responsibility to Ferguson specifically?

I think what Lord Jamar is saying that, since she has co-opted the culture and is making money off of it, she holds a certain responsibility to take part the hip hop culture in its entirety. That goes with anyone that makes money off of a culture that they do not belong to. He's not just saying donate to Ferguson but what he is saying is that she should at least address it, they shouldn't remain silent at all Em, Jay, and Kanye are equally responsible as Iggy.

Lord jamar is obviously racist. And he agrees with Banks so he is obviously crazy and childish. I personally hate iggy but she shouldn't be forced to talk or do anything she doesn't want to. And even she did, it wouldn't help anything. Why do people look to celebrities for their opinion? It doesn't Matter at all. And I don't see how "rappers" NEED (key word need) to say something about Ferguson. If that's the case Lord jamar must want chief keefs or young thug or migos perspective on this. He's just being racist and tryna find anything against iggy. Ps. Banks is a crazy troll and her say in anything should be disregarded.

As far as the rappers marching in Ferguson thing Vlad said, I know Talib Kweli was out there marching but other than him and Macklemore idk of any other rappers who were out there. I think Immortal Technique might have been out there but idk for sure if he was.

I love Azealia for pouring her heart out about our people and having the courage as a young black woman to truly voice her feelings of what really needs to be said on the behalf of our race in this critical time of detriment we are in and I truly commend her for that. But I can't certify a person such as herself if she does indeed indulge particularly with men that are the oppositional enemy to her own. You can't fight the DEVIL, and be physically and emotionally intimate with him or his acolytes. It'll defeat your perspective if you are hold hearted to it everytime in my opinion.

I agree and disagree with lord jamar. Respect what he has to say wether I agree or not. But calling Iggy a bitch is a little much. Now if this causes her boyfriend to punch him in the face is that ok? No man would want some dude disrespecting his girl. This is getting more personal now then just hiphop

You can experience what is considered the 4 seasons of things in reality. I do see now that winter has set in. When music stores finally came to an end, and productions begin to lack on making classic albums. And people were no longer wanting to buy the entire album because all they wanted were only just 1 or 2 songs of the entire album. Then napster came into the picture, and that is when everything went downhill. Now music is no longer being produce towards making albums anymore. Just 1 or 2 songs and you get a deal on itunes and be able to tour off of just those songs is what you see today. When it comes to history that is what I study and that is my major. I'm old enough to see the decline and the lack of productivity in all music off today. I do believe that the chapter has now finally come to a close in the music world. The issues today coming up in music or not the same issue that came up 25 to 30 years ago. The entertaining world has now become nothing but politics. It used to be fun and it used to be exciting. But now that joy in having a good time and, focusing on just the money and not the art itself has now died. Nas was correct when he said hip hop is dead because all music is now dead. Deny it if you want to because that is what you are going to do. Because the naive an egotistical close minded people do not have the ability to look anything up and study their history correctly. But I see the truth and I do believe, it is now time to close the chapter on music being televised, and people making money off of it. There are people who know damn better what to be doing and, what not to be doing. They just don't care no more because it is all about the money and the power comes along with it. The culture of art and music is now being destroyed. I do predict possibly 50 years from now movies along with music will no longer be made. It will be irrelevant and no longer needed. Because the way things are going now that is directly what is going to happen in reality which is, the debasement and the degrading of morality and good social conduct.

Jamar is rewriting history when he keeps calling hip hop 'black music'. The roots of hip hop culture as far as dj's finding awesome beat breaks may have been birthed in the Bronx in black neighborhoods but hip hop culture as a whole with graffiti/b boys has had a mixture of ethnicities taking part in the 70's and 80's. Hip hop as pertaining to the music industry has been anything but just black as well. Besides Bambaataa, Herc, and other "originators", the musical flight of hip hop started with Russell Simmons and Rick Rubin who put out the artists who were the real reasons hip hop music was to become more than a fade, which is what people thought was going to happen. Run DMC, The Beastie Boys, and LL Cool J were to be the dominant forces in early hip hip music to bring it mainstream and create a real awareness that this music is real and here to stay. Also, music producers putting the music together were not all black. Jamar will literally look back and give ultimate props to Run DMC and call the Beastie Boys a gimmick at the same time. Saying they were something to get white kids interested and that's it. Totally ignoring that their sound was just a meshing of the punk rock genre which had been popular amongst white rockers, and Hip Hop. And look what that did. That crossover was huge and extremely important as it bridged a racial divide and more importantly a musical divide, which we were to later see Run DMC and Aerosmith do a collaboration with walk this way which became a huge pop hit. All of these small steps were important in the early to mid 80's as it opened up the music industry to Hip Hop and Hip Hop lovers. Only for ignorant people like Jamar years later to speak down on only white artists who become successful in the Hip Hop music industry. I'm not sure where his thought process truly starts and ends but he's way off with all of his rants. He's birthing a generation of kids who believe what he's saying is true driving a wedge in that bridge that was made 30+years ago. Iggy is no more generic than the rest of the shit on the radio. Black or white. If he's gonna hate bad music, hate it whole heartedly, without prejudice.

I completely agree with the sentiment of this video. If Iggy Azalea is profiting from music rooted in black culture which is against oppression how can she then suddenly disown the responsibility of showing her disdain when an 18 year old african american is shot dead by police officers. There is a certain degree of respect that needs to be shown and a level of responsibility that comes to anyone (regardless of race) when doing hip hop and to dismiss that is wrong
