Talrand: *(exists)* Lord of the Nazgûl: Look at what he needs to do to copy a fraction of my power!

Y'all are only seeing a fraction of this commander's potential. It's fits so great with the ring mechanic. These token with menace and possibly ring bearers will most likely do combat dmg. That means looting it makes it even easier to abuse the gy. Also, the Nazgul have that sweet text that says to put +1/+1 counters on each wraith when the Ring tempts you... enter Arcane Adaptation/Maskwood Nexus. The watcher in the water is also a new good token generator which has some sort of tribal text that fits with Maskwood Nexus. It just keeps getting better the more I dig! Just having a hard time with ramp tho. As big G player I find the signets and such a bit meh haha.

Do you have a deck for this? I'm heading in that direction ad well
@BuckShotTherapy Жыл бұрын
Might be more resilient in grindier games but it's a lot slower at 3 cmc per creature and you can see it coming from a mile away. Sure you can run things that reduce the cost of creatures or something to help but Spellslinger decks are just better for something like this because you can just hold up mana for counter magic, removal or your contrips that you can do on someone's end step. So by the time it gets to your turn your creatures can actually attack. I remember making about 10 wraiths on my upkeep because I was about to lose my current hand to midnight clock and get a fresh hand so I decided to cast as much instant speed magic which ended up drawing me into cyclonic Rift with 8 mana left. It was perfect. Down side is it can be a glass cannon sometimes

To be fair, Lord of the Nazgûl is already so good and efficient at creating a board presence and pressure that all you need on top is just a bunch of 1-2 cmc control spells: efficient removal, counters and some card draw. You REALLY want the commander to stay on board at 5cmc in a dimir deck so running more counter spells than usual is only beneficial. Include your typical high value draw/stacks creatures with a bit of drow from enchantments and this deck is running super smooth and rather consistent even with no tutors.

There has to be a way to include the 9 nazgul cards here. That is what I need
@bennymarty6972 Жыл бұрын
I build one in like an hour and it looks great, kinda proud tbh haha. Only issue is that it includes the Ring mechanic so that means a stale deck which will be hard to upgrade overtime. But I'm a lotr nerd so I don't mind. Let me know if you'd like to see the brew. Cheers! Edit : typo

You could probably cut the token generators Talrand, murmuring mystic, alandra, and ethereal investigator. So that’s 4 while they are definitely better I’m all for flavor! Arcane proxy and Demilich would probably be safe cuts as well so that’s 6. Rite of replication is definitely a Timmy card we could safely cut 7. Isochron scepter also a pretty flexible card but doesn’t hurt the deck that bad if we cut it 8. We could also cut dark petition again hurts the consistency slightly but…. Flavor!

I want to find a deck tech that has the Lord of the rings theme though, but I like the suggestions
@lorchenakumnarth6456 Жыл бұрын
It absolutely is a Talrand on steroids. You pay one more to get another color and tokens with an inherit buff? They aren’t flying but menace is still…well, a menace. Sign me up. Great deck for cards like Coastal Piracy, etc.

Those would be solid adds?

just play "wonder" it's blue and if you can dump it into the grave, and you control an island, all your creatures will have flying

@@InTecknicolour wow, wild, secret tech stuff huh? What are some other cards you can share that can illuminate us with your endless wisdom? :P Jokes aside, yeah I mean it kind of is a no-brainer to turn these guys into unblockable menaces.

My current Lord of the Nazgul deck contains 9 Nazguls.. for now. Ultimately I want to bring the deck to a power level of 8 or 9, with average win coming at turn 7 or 8. I think it can be done with a good enough deck.
@Pat6l6 Жыл бұрын
What are your thoughts on carnival of souls? Its risky but adds mana, but black mana. We can cast black low cmc instants on opponents turn, create wraiths.

weird body movement when you talk whiel standing in the same spot is really weird. Like if you were in public or talking to someone in person like that I would think you were either very Italian or having a seizure.

What an incredibly unnecessary comment.

@@Helscribe Possibly, but you never know what might help or not unless said. The guy is brilliant and deserves more credit. I am also deaf and use captions. When you learn American Sign Launguage, you start to wonder why folks move like this. It's totally not a normal body movement while communicating. Have a wonderful day and I hope you win the lotto!
