A LOT actually happens in this book. There's a ton of great world building, lots of great little adventures the characters go on, lots of interesting locations to explore, and a lot of great character moments. This is a book that's more about the small things, and that makes it really endearing. Also, Frodo being reluctant to do anything is what makes him such a relatable protagonist. Wouldn't you be the same way in his shoes?

The way bilbo got the ring was important, because hobbits don t usually lie, and he lied about his coming into possession of the ting.This was the first sign gandalf observed that the ring was way different than any other magical ring, because it was influential on bilbo. After this, he spent his time on finding any worthy detail about the ring, to confirm his theory. I not a native english speaker so im sorry for my english :)) and i m also in a hurry, sorry if i wasnt really explanatory. Also, i understant why people cant really get into tolkiens books.

I see. I suppose the significance of that point was lost on me. The hobbits seemed plenty underhanded and scheme-y to me with everyone trying to get Bilbo's money, so maybe I never caught that bit about lying being unusual. I'm glad you enjoyed the book! And thanks for watching

I think bk Lord of the Rings are epic books. I've not long ago read The Hobbit and now reading Lord of the Rings. I've reached chapter 10 called Strider. I have read these books in the past a few times.

I really loved this review. I always felt like I “had” to love this book, and then I couldn’t figure why I could never get past counsel of Elron. So glad for your honesty I think it’s what needs to be said! I do LOVE the Hobbit though and Bilbo is much better than Frodo I think, his character development is so much more. I do recommend the Hobbit it’s worth 50 cents

I may check it out, then. I know he wrote that one for a different audience, but after this one I just sort of wrote Tolkien off as "not a writing style I enjoy." Thanks for the recommendation, and for watching :)

“The first book” is actually The Hobbit. The Lord of the Rings is the sequel to The Hobbit and is a single novel which was originally published as three separate volumes because the publisher couldn’t afford to publish it in one volume.
