In his 2010 autobiography, Loneliness of 1000 Years, Tolkki describes how he composed the melody in 1978 when he was 12, two months after his father split his wrists and jumped off a balcony, crying while playing the organ. 20 years later, 1998, I recorded the vocals for the beginning of Destiny, at age of 12: I was singing in the same exact choir that Timo had sung with at the same age. It's haunting, in a way. I only read the autobiography now and it gave me cold shivers. Powerful.

Damn man, this is sooo nostalgic. I remember times when I was little kid and watched LotR for the first time and then I watched this video with my mom every evening. I was sitting on her knee and was absolutly stunned. Now I am 20 and far from home, I somehow remembered this video but i didnt know how is the song called. So I had to text to my mother. And here I am, many years later, still stunned like I was 10. Thank you man for this video.
