I have a silly question. Is it easier to think of this song in F sharp versus c sharp/ D flat? In F sharp the progression is 5, 2, 4, 1 during the verse. Well that's what I play on bass. On that second chord during the verse you played B major 7 with a G sharp bass wouldn't that make the chord a G sharp minor 7. I'm just curious. I have very limited piano skills and when I play this song I base all my licks, which I don't throw many in, in F sharp. Thanks in advance. I could be over thinking this.

I completely agree. I new to music theory and I've wanted someone to explain to me why this song is not in F# major.... I mean it fits perfectly in that scale. Is the chord you start a song with more important than the scale used in a particular song???

similar. but you can play inversions or use a grace note to add spice. Mostly when we play our guitar player uses arpeggios on the chorus
