I have an '05 Jeep TJ Rocky Mtn 4.0L I6, and it's by far the best vehicle I've ever had. Extremely capable on and especially off-road because I put a modest 2" lift with 32" KO2's with a Fox suspension has it driving the best any '41 - '06 short wheelbase can. The key is staying as close to stock geometry as possible while improving the vehicle's capabilities. If you're looking for a real and affordable Jeep, I highly recommend any 4.0L Wrangler with a dana 44 and lsd. Had my local dealer assess the issue to get an estimate on repair cost. Received a call from the dealer saying that Subaru North America would be contacting me which they did. Was told the repairs would be completed at no cost as a good faith repair. They could have just as easily told me to pound sand. Don't know if the other manufacturers would have done same. Wasn't an easy repair as the dash and cowling had to be removed.

I absolutely love jeep wranglers, but I chose my Subaru Crosstrek limited (2020) at the time as the best all rounder for my needs. Aside from hardcore off-roading, the Subaru does everything else better. Better fuel mileage, easier on tires, etc. the AWD is truly full time and the best AWD on the market. Comfortable and I personally love how it sounds like an old bi-plane in cold startup due to the boxer engine 😂 The biggest downside is you need to keep all tires about the same. If you get a unfixable damage to one tire, you’ll need to get a whole new set so the tire tread is similar in depth. Otherwise it will wreak havoc on the AWD system. Changing spark plugs isn’t bad but it can be aggravating to get the driver side rear (the right socket and extension will make it a super easy job though!). Overall, I think you’ll be very happy with your Subaru! I’m fortunate to also have a Tesla Model Y Performance…and I honestly reach for the Subaru more often than not! 600Hp is fun but I just love the slow and easy going nature of the Subaru! I’ve taken this thing all up and down the west coast, up in the winter mountains of Washington, off-roading the open deserts of Nevada in summertime, etc…never skipped a beat! Forgot to add that they are legendary on safety for a reason! I’m convinced that Colin McRae (famous Subaru rally car racer) crashed all the time and Subaru took that crash data then applied it to their factory built production vehicles. There’s a reason Subaru has earned their reputation of safety and you can rest assured that you and your family will be in good hands

Well, depends on insurance and safety concerns. Subarus are small, and when giving a sibling a car you want the comfort of knowing that if there’s a collision Jeep and Ford automobiles have very good safety and passenger survival capabilities than most other brands. Small cars are great, but, you want something for a relative that’s as safe to drive on public roads as possible. Seen too often many videos of small cars and passengers get wasted on those ‘highway pileups’. But, this is just my opinion.

One was a manual and another was an auto. I've always wanted a WRX since they came out right after graduating high school, I am seriously considering one right now, but IF I can find the extra money, I was thinking an Outback XT is a much better choice. With that said, I would seriously look at a Crosstrek or even a Forester. The Forester has amazing seats and fantastic ergonomics, my wife is only 4'11" and the Forester fit her prefectly and way better than the Outback, but since this would be my new car, I do not have to worry too much about that I suppose. Just stick to 5k mi oci despite Subaru saying 6k. use a 5w-20 if you can vs 0w-20 (fewer friction modifiers in the 5w-20 oil and you won't notice a difference). use Subaru filters, they are cheap enough and can be found for less than $10ea. I'm a big fan of low SAPS (ACEA C3) oil for my WRX, but it is tough to find as it is geared more toward Euro cars and stores don't really stock "fringe" oils. 30k mi front/rear diff oil changes (use the Subaru gear oil $13/bottle).

While I hope you and your family never need to find out the hard way, the Crosstrek is a very safe vehicle in an accident (and also at avoiding them) and an IIHS best pick. Make sure to keep up with the maintenance schedule (especially the cvt related parts) and it'll last.

@@LordCryptid Subaru is good at making the interior cargo area spacious. I had a Legacy wagon and it always surprised my friends how much could be put in the back when they needed a truck bro to help them move. I also put my bike in the back (seats down) with the front wheel off and slept beside it to park at trailheads the night before a long ride, as a 6 foot man. The Legacy had no business going to a lot of trailheads that I took it to, especially as the lower riding sibling of the Outback. Subaru is also great at making a sporty feeling without the jarring, hard suspension that others use.

I love my 2017 Subaru Crosstrek ,it has 190,000 miles on it and runs great. Make sure that you change your Cvt fluid every 35k .That lifetime fluid is BS, They will go out if the fluid is not changed out. I would call around and find a mechanic to do it otherwise you will spend about 500 bucks to change the fluid.I buy my own fluid Lubegard Cvt synthetic for 70 bucks and take it to my guy who does it for 40 bucks. If you ever hear a roaring noise at 50 mph its the wheel bearings. Replace them with Timkin bearings and you will good to go.I love mine the all wheel drive system is much better than my old Honda Crv or Toyota Highlander . Much Much different it seemed to me that there Awd set up was in name only cause they did not work well.. I only use Quaker State Ultimate Protection Full Synthetic 5W-20 motor oil in mine and it does not use a drop of oil and there additive package is much better than the others and for 22 bucks for 5 quarts at walmart is a steal.

Grew up with Subarus and I won't own one. Maybe it was our local dealership, but my parents were constantly hit with insane repair bills due to the flaky all wheel drive systems. I know a lot of people like theirs, and my parents still own one, but I find them to be unrefined and uncomfortable, even if the reliability issues I saw were just bad luck. The crosstrek does look cool, though.
@C10sRule4 күн бұрын
The Crosstrek had some great revisions in 2024 and is surprisingly comfortable now. Better handling as well. I was very anti Subaru. Then my wife insisted she wanted one. It’s her $$$ and her choice, so I respected that. I drive trucks. Just downsized to a 24 Ranger V6. Love the truck, but it’s small to me. Maybe I’ll get used to it,,,,,. Anyway, I started driving the Subaru occasionally when my wife says she doesn’t want to have to climb into the vehicle. I’m really starting to enjoy it even though it’s really small! I have a bad back, but can drive that thing for hours on end!! We have had some road trips that were about 6 hours of driving & I only stopped when nature called 😂😂. Things change & the prices of vehicles is one painful change, but the pricing for what you get is pretty decent. She purchased the Limited model.

Regarding the comfort, the '24 and ongoing Crosstrek has some really great seats in this regard. The general shape for the butt and back is good, plus there are trims with power lumbar support. The bolstering is on the higher end. The plushiness of the seats is in the middle, which I think is a good choice since that's the part that will vary in preference the most from person to person. The cabin space around is good for being a sub-compact. I would have no problem taking it on a multi-day road trip with a sketchy back. I remember my old Legacy's front seats were a bit hard, a bad shape and had low bolstering. They are still somewhat "unrefined" for interior styling compared to the competition. The Crosstrek is still carrying over the same centre console that has a CD case slot from previous generations. I would even put the boring Corolla Cross' interior above the Crosstrek. The HR-V is nicer, with lots of soft touch/leather and the "mega grill" style, and the CX-30 looks like it belongs more in the premium category with Lexus, Acura, etc.
@C10sRule2 күн бұрын
@ - agree fully!! Loved the CX-30, but my wife quite hated the thought of putting humans in the back seat!! Haha. It was a little cramped to a lot and our families aren’t that tall!! For just 2 people though,,,,,,, man it was nice to drive! The Turbo was really a riot!!
