It's honestly true. I remember onion rings used to be good, but somewhere along the way they started getting bigger and now they aren't fried properly anymore so the crust doesn't stick to the onion. She's one of a very few singers where I can see that they write their own lyrics. Often, one finds such a discrepancy between the poetry of the lyrics and the way people express themselves in regular situations that is difficult to see how they are supposed to be able to switch gears to such an extent. Not so for Lorde, who is very articulate and deliberate in the way she talks.

I'm from New Zealand. I was kind of expecting her to completely melt. Traditionally our food is very British (i.e bland) since we're a British colony. The only hot sauce that was available here until recently was Tabasco. We are now getting a great array of immigrants who are bringing their amazing foods with them from all over the world. Amazing restaurants are popping up all over the place with the best the world has to offer. It's a great time to be alive if you're a Kiwi who loves good food.

@@MrWIbackpacker By the time she was 12 she'd read 1,200 books!! Not comics or cartoon books, but book books. So at 24 she's incredibly well read with an amazing family who keep her grounded. Her mother is a well respected poet and tours with her. Her interviews even from when she became famous at 16 are proof of this. Watch how she moves her hands as she expresses herself. She fascinates.👍🏻💖

It’s one thing to be a prolific reader, it’s another to retain information and bend it to to be used in different contexts. I don’t tend to deify people based on accomplishments. I just really like her mannerisms, and brooding intelligence. She has a depth of personality that is, quite frankly, not something you see everyday. She is fortunate to have NZ, American fandom is the worst. People here and their obsession with fame is very unhealthy for people like her. It’s easy here to fall into the psychological trappings of happenstance surrounding wealth and pseudo-status. I give her a lot of credit for remaining low profile.
