Been watching a lot of Cloud805's "zen-oh" series and there is one thing I see. So many of the people he plays mash buttons at every-conceivable-opportunity. There is zero situational awareness. Sometimes if you just take a second or two and just LOOK at what's going on instead of just mashing buttons all-the-time you may get more wins. I'm learning about myself and reassessing my FG prowess just by looking at the people getting washed but also and more importantly looking at HOW they are getting washed. We can learn from that.

Yeah everytime cloud's in a match he ends talking and shows he knows what he's doing. It's like he predicts what they are doing by being patient. He doesn't freak out when he gets hit. He's a really patient player.

@HastaLaLista4 жыл бұрын
Great video as always! Being patient is definitely something that improved my results online, as well as understanding the actual risk vs just panic vanishing all the time. I would also add that the best players adapt very fast and very effectively to their opponent's strategy. How many times have I fought someone with a very unusual gameplan that I had no answer for? Typically, I think I'd lose 3 times in a row (or more) before understanding what I should do to counter, whereas a top player would figure it out way faster. That also means top players have a better "academic" understanding of the game (frames, move properties, etc), and they can make good choices faster because of that.

I'd argue that one very important difference between pros and casual/intermediate players is, that they actually know all the system mechanics and how they interact with each other. It's crucial for understanding the game in general, aswell as figuring out why an interaction went the way it did. Helps to not get frustrated and adapt accordingly.

#1 is my biggest issue. I could never hang in marvel because I just flat out refused to use Doom and Vergil because I was sick of seeing them on 98% of teams. It's the same issue I have with Bardock, he's been on 90% of teams since his release and i'm so tired of seeing him not only in tournaments, but online as well. He also got away with hardly any hard changes while videl, Gogeta and Jiren is still out here strugglin' so he's the obvious favorite in the game However; that god damn B assist is SOOOOOOOOO good, his execution is easy, and he goes just about with any character. He would help out my teams a LOT.

When you were talking about lower tier players and how they say things like “if only they had this one thing, they’ll be good”, while you’re right that players need to be more flexible when judging a character’s strengths and weaknesses, I feel like there’s one exception where a character really does need one thing to be good and that’s Goku Black. Black is a perfect example of a character that was designed terribly, his toolkit you can tell was built with mixups in mind, instant transmission being the elephant in the room, he desperately needs a 2L low. I’ve been advocating for this since the launch of the game, yes he has strong neutral but he was clearly intended to be a mixup heavy character, him having strong neutral was an accident. Instant transmission, a command grab, good buttons, etc. that’s the makings of a mix up character but yet he got a 2L mid... why?

Whats the best way to help yourself not mash? I dont mean "mash" as an Oki option, i mean pressing a button multiple times that you should really only be pressing once. What kind of training can I do to teach my hands I only need to hit a button 3 times, not 30?

@@patleaf2432 The secret is that there is no secret. Practice timing inputs rather than mashing it out. There are no magic words you will read that will all of a sudden stop you from mashing. If you're unsatisfied with this advice, that's too bad because this is the best there will be.
@OnlyInFrontOfU4 жыл бұрын
Generally you mashing because you do not understand what you should do and you get scared. You can fix it by two steps. Frist, go to practicing mode and try not to mash at any point during a combo. Second, go to play arcade mode and play the hard mode. Using the no mashing combos that you have practiced. Because the AI can read you input and it is always waiting for your buttons, so mashing meaninglessly can get you killed very easily since AI has many boosts in hard mode. Try to pass it again and again without using any tricks, then you are good to go.

Pros can block!
@PathBeyondTheDark4 жыл бұрын
Not that this is a valid reason for criticising defense, but i do understand the anxiety about blocking since reflexes are based on the individual. Playing a fighting game i've noticed even things such as posture can affect how well you react to different mixups on top of just general anxiety, rigid muscle movement, etc. I think pros underappreciate just how much of an advantage it is to be 100% laser focused and loose physically most of the time. This and many other physical aspects make fighters very difficult to jump into since you have to retrain your brain almost completely. You go from at most having to decide whether to step on the gas or break in a vehicle in a split second to deciding which of a dozen face buttons to press, in what combination, with what timing in split seconds numbering potentially the entirety of a match.
@KodmaniacX4 жыл бұрын
This is so true, I made a slight adjustment to the way I grip the controller and have much better results teching dragon rush now. Physical elements matter a lot in fighting games, particularly when dealing with the input delay and delay based netcode for online players.

Most people online use gimmicks while in block string i think i have trouble playing my own game like its no pressure and barely any mix-ups because at round start i hit with a bnb realize they don’t have a neutral so they spam jump and super dash also my decision making that makes me play like that as well because i can’t hit em because he loves to jump also not using my advantages with my own team nd also better blocking there pressure but getting that timing for a 2L or 2H is hard especially in a beam assist i don’t even use reflect because most times if u do you still get hit i think need to take my time more when i pressure and block but psn online with this game is not easy
