In the middle 1980's , I used to work for the Southern Pacific Railroad and spent a lot of time in Lordsburg. It was a crew change point for the Tucson and El Paso train crews. I grew up in El Paso , but worked out of Tucson. There used to be a large concrete coal tower next to the tracks . Nearby was the modular rooms we stayed in. Ate a lot of good Mexican food at the restaurant near the Depot. The Union Pacific Railroad took over the SP in 1995 and shortly after torn down all the old railroad buildings and run through to El Paso.
