The edgefield ghost reminds me a great deal of Gef the Talking Mongoose. It has a very similar feel, exhibiting many of the same behaviors such as mimicry, willingness to engage and answer questions (especially with children), and a disdain for religion in general. Just thought I'd point that out... I dunno, it's got alot of interesting parallels.
