I appreciate that this story beat plays into Richard's history in the original series. One of Richard's first moves after it became clear Lorelai was serious about Luke was to take him out golfing and pitch the idea of franchising the diner. Apparently, he never let go of that idea.

I can't help but have an issue with this I know Richard and Emily ment well but this is more interference with them.not letting lorili go into the study with them when she wanted to talk about there lives like lorili was still a child.this just hit me wrong.
