Episode 2 titled, “Living Treasures (Part 1),” features three living Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan (GAMABA) awardees from Northern Luzon-Magdalena Gamayo of Ilocos Norte and Teofilo Garcia of Abra, who were both awarded in 2012, and Alonzo Saclag of Kalinga, awarded in 2000.

DAYAW
Dayaw, conceptualized and hosted by Senator Legarda, and produced by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and ANC, is a six-part, 30-minute weekly documentary series that focuses on the preservation of the country’s culture and heritage.
It is shown every Thursday, 6:30pm on ANC and ANC HD, with livestreaming on abs-cbnnews.com/live and on ANC’s Facebook page, and simultaneously on The Filipino Channel (TFC). Replays on Thursday 10:30pm, Friday 1:30am and 2:30pm, Saturday 3:00am and 8:30am, Sunday 11:30am, Tuesday 1:30pm, and Wednesday 11:30pm.

Three GAMABA recipients from Northern Luzon are the subject of this episode, which explores their lives and remarkable accomplishment. The three living recipients of the gawad sa manlilikha ng bayan are Magdalena Gamayo an abel weaver from Ilocos Norte, Teofilo Garcia an expert maker of tabungao made from gourd, and Alonzo Saclag a dancer, musician, and cultural worker from Kalinga. They are the artistic and make cultural practices to preserve traditional knowledge and present their rich cultural heritage and legacy. As a Filipino, I am grateful for their contributions to the country's cultural legacy.

One of the biggest challenge in this modern time, is how we were able to preserve and transmit these culture to the next generation. Knowing that in present, not all teenagers have INTEREST and WILLINGNESS to learn this. I hope that this culture, will be passed on to the next generation. And therefore will result to its preservation.

The three GAMABA awardees from Northern Luzon. First is the 2012 Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan awardee, Magdalena Gamayo from ilocos norte she is a textile weaver, next is Teofilo Garcia a guord hat maker or tabungao/tabungaw the materials are guord, rattan, and varnish. Last is Alonzo Saclag musician and dancer he is the master of musical instruments, dances and architecture. Now I realized that even if we are in a modern technology there are some people who passionate about the preservation of our culture.

thankyou for letting us know who are the three living gawad and their expertise. there’s three living gawad sa manlilikha ng bayan (GAMABA) awardees from Northern Luzon. the first one name Magdalena Gamayo known as Textile weaver, she’s expert in art of weaving and all of her design is difficult to make aside of her age , its not hinder to continue doing important designs using raw materials. the second GAMABA awardees is Teofilo Garvia a Gourd Hat Maker/foxy filipiniana. its a result of agricultural knowledge time honored and functional design he made the hat by traditional and hands on way using gourd, rattan & varnish and he shared his knowledge in his community. next is Alonzo Saclag a musician and dancer, Alonzo is expert in musical instruments and he loves helping the community by letting them work in his field or small rice terraces and pay them.
