Hello patrick, this is a great intersection of art, science and sound. your experimentation with chaotic attractors adds a whole new dimension to the concept of complexity and creativity hat off for you

It's interesting hearing how some patterns combined with certain notes has a ton of dissonance, and others have little to none. It's sort of like each shape/pattern has a main note/chord and when it's played through the different keys sometimes you get like a half-note away and it's extremely dissonant. Kind of like tuning a guitar harmonically you are waiting for the dissonant waves to slow down and disappear then it's in tune. When the waves are faster in this it's when it's getting further and further away from the key. The actual shape of the pattern seems to also produce different levels of dissonance too, which is interesting to have a visual way of analyzing.

I love this reflection! Yes, I noticed that relationship between the shape and dissonance. At least I think that's what's happening.🤓 It's strange how the shapes/patterns don't change according to the pitches in the melody. They only change when I adjust the other channel manually. I'll continue reading Ullman's book - there's probably a good reason. Thanks so much for your insightful response!

It's amazing what can be achieved if you put your mind to it! I never thought that an analog computer could exist! Fascinating! Totally out of my league but super interesting! Great work as always, Patrick! 👍👍👍👍

Thank you so much, Alexander! I'm having a lot of fun playing with this thing. I know I'm not using it for its intended purpose but I really enjoy discovering new sounds.

The middle section started making me think we were monitoring some sort of life form on the scope and the graphs were showing something very worrying that we should be concerned about. You've also given me a patch idea.

Luckily I had the foresight to disconnect the plasma generator from the incubation tank before I started filming, or else there would definitely be a monster emergency this afternoon. I'm eager to hear the patch!

Oh man! I saw Veritasium's video on analog computing and had the same idea! But I've only recently been interested in modular synth stuff, I could afford the analog thing but I can't afford the rest, at least not all at once 😂 But now you've got me thinking! Looks like tons of fun.

I did a little research and learned that you can send the analog things output to a microphone input on your computer. I just ordered one, I'm so excited to mess around in vcv rack!

Really fascinating, Patrick! On a laterally -related note, are you familiar with the acoustical/soundscape studies of Murray Schaefer? You might find it interesting. Anyway, this experiment you're doing is captivating and strange. It's also quite hypnotizing in an retro-tech way

Karl, once again you've pointed me to someone I didn't know but instantly and deeply understood. I love exploring graphical notation, especially in vocal music. I'm listening to Vancouver Chamber Choir performing his work as I write this note. Thank you very much for watching this experiment! It means a lot that I can share these niche interests with you.

So so cool!! i'm afraid I didn' tunderstand much of it, in spite of your great pedagogical gifts... It's a shame I'm so irredeemably computer-illiterate, because I'm sure I'd have tons of fun experimenting with this!!

I can't help thinking the correlation between sound and image looks random! It would be great if it was possible to create an interesting sound or image intentionally! I did read differential equations long time ago but I remember nothing about it! 👍👍👍

I'm not very good at this yet but I'm inspired by Jerobeam Fenderson, who is the master of oscilloscope music. Here's a link to his youtube video if you're interested: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYG4lZujZ7t4Y9E
