This so beautiful tribute for not only a great man, but also for a great character and great actor! You have lost your soul is my most favourite line from The show, so touching. I love Lorenzo so much. Now I know that I need to find more information about him, visit his city but also look for another performation of Daniel Sharman. What a fantastic job he did?! His life role si far at least for me.

That whole conversation in 2x08 ("You have lost your soul") and also the one between Lorenzo and Savonarola at the beginning of 3x08 ("and He's abandoned his children") are so well written!! They're my absolute favorites! And yes I 100% agree!! Daniel Sharman was phenomenal, nobody could have done a better job at playing Lorenzo!!

@@DelenaSwarkles Thank you so much for this video! I knew a lot about Lorenzo before watching "Medici" but then I watch Sharman's performance and...well...he knocked it out of the park. His talent was completely at the service of Lorenzo, it was very simple to connect on a human level and to understand his struggles. The series and Sharman's work added a new depth to history. In my case, it will take a lot of time to let this series go.

It's soooooo good! The debate around "must do bad to do good" and the fighting inside Lorenzo. You seized the development of the character so well! And the mix-up scene of Jiuliano's death and Savolanora's is exactly what I was thinking about when I watched S3E8 for the first time🙌. I was like: He's DEFINITELY thinking of Jiuliano to act like this. He fixed the mistake and saved his soul at last😭.

This is so amazing! It shows Lorenzo's character so well, from the boy who wanted to do only good to the man who did some bad things 'for good'. I don't think he completely lost his soul, he snapped after Giulliano died. Anyway, he is very complex and layered and your video did just that. I want to vid him too very soon.

@@DelenaSwarkles oh, yes. I totally agree that he changed a lot and not for the best. Maybe I phrased my comment the wrong way. I only meant that in the way other people from the show put it 'you have lost your soul' they never understood WHY. He lost so much. It was inevitable. No, I don't agree with many things. How he used threats and murder as you said is not to be overlooked and I found myself looking at the screen and saying 'what on earth are you doing?' But, he didn't become a 'full-time' tyran, that's all I am saying. Giulliano's death hit him so much and morphed him into something s2 Lorenzo would have hated but he didn't loose his soul completely. As you said, and I really like how you phrased that, he partially lost it.

Yes I agree 100% with you!! People from the show treated him like he became, as you said, a full-time tyrant, which is not true at all!! (It wasn't like he was murdering people left and right, just killing anyone who opposed him lol) Yes he did some horrible things that he would have never done before, but everyone failed to realize the cause of that: his brother's death. Giuliano repeatedly told him that you can't solve your problems by simply talking, you need to use violence because that's what all your enemies are gonna use, but Lorenzo never listened to him, and Giuliano ended up getting murdered. So obviously Lorenzo blamed himself a lot, and realized that Giuliano was right and he had to become somewhat ruthless if he wanted to survive and protect his family. That's not an excuse for his behavior or for the things he ended up doing, but it would have been nice if someone in the show mentioned why Lorenzo changed this much and that it was kinda understandable. Anyway I'm sorry for this rant lol I just love this show so much and Lorenzo's story is really heartbreaking, I can't get enough talking about it lol.

@@DelenaSwarkles I love rant. Especially fandom rant, so don't worry. And this is exactly what I meant in my original comment. A lot of his actions are horrible but you understand why he became like this. Big part of his youth he tried to solve things *only* through peace and it failed him in the most hurtful way. Then he took Giuliano's advice to be more ruthless with his enemies very literal and lost a lot of his old morals. S2 Lorenzo would think bad of Lorenzo. I think it's why he completely lost faith in almost everything, sometimes even in his own family while he continued to trust the wrong people (Bruno). He did not became a' full time tyran' but he became a full time mess, lol. And toxic too, let's not deny that either. I think a lot of people would have followed the same path or worse had they been in that time period and in his shoes. Now I have to say sorry for the rant. I loved this show too, especially after s2 (I never warmed up to the characters in s1 and the arch was so rushed in order to put as much in one season). I don't know if you care about this but I also want to make a video for Lorenzo. Have been for a while, but I had exams and couldn't. I agree with everything you wrote I couldn't have said it better myself!!! Especially the part about how he trusted the wrong people. I mean, I believe that without Bruno's influence, Lorenzo would have actually tried to reason with Tommaso, instead of immediately killing him without even trying to convince him. And yes the disappointment that S2 Lorenzo would feel towards S3 Lorenzo lol. And no don't worry it doesn't sound weird at all! DelenaSwarkles Ikr, there were so many, I checked the reviews on Amazon and the ratings. “Magnifico: The Brilliant Life and Violent Times of Lorenzo de' Medici” By: Miles J. Unger. It seemed like the best so far, but I’m excited to explore more once I finish this one!
