One point to your ranged play through. I was thinking what if you only use crossbows and you get the smithing skill that lets you make explosive bolts?

(Tried posting on the other video but it got deleted?). Not sure if this would have worked for you (but it has for me in the past when that freeze happens) - alt tab, then create a new desktop window and move the Skyrim instance to Desktop 2. Then click on Desktop 1 and open task manager (you should be able to access desktop 1 as normal). Close the Skyrim application from Desktop 1.
