Loretta Lynn is hands down, one of Country Music's most talented and humble country singer. She knows what its like to have nothing, yet to still be very happy! She's probably my favorite country singer! I just love her! Even though she's very famous, she's such a selfless person that thinks of others before herself. I've seen the movie "Coal Miners Daughter" and it is such a great movie! It tells a wonderful love story! It also tells a sad tale of what growing up poor in Butcher Hollar was like.

@@whendis.roberts9903Loretta Lynn and Doolittle Lynn married at a time when a couple took vows and honored them. Loretta would be the first to say that Doolittle "never hit her once when she didn't hit him twice". Obviously putting your hands on someone in anger is a disgusting thing, and his affairs were incredibly lame and embarrassing for Loretta, but I understand the way they loved each other, through it all. My grandparents were the same way. I don't advocate for a woman OR man to stay in a relationship where they are being abused, but I do understand the love Doo and Loretta shared. They are finally together again and that makes me very happy. ❤️

I love her blunt honesty. Grew up a poor country girl and at one point had to pump our water . There were seven children and we did laundry by hand or used a stool plunger and a bucket and hung our clothes to dry. In the winter we'd bring the jeans in and they'd stand up by themselves until they thawed out then we'd hang them around the house so they could finish drying . We too only got one pair of shoes each year so coal miners daughter hit close to home. Loved sitting around with family watching her on the Grand old Opry. After we picked,plowed, planted and watered the garden and fed the hogs. Everyone said my mother looked just like her. She'd make jokes about if only she could sing like her. I too am connected to my children and know when something is not right with them. I physically felt the pain when my two least had a wreck. I was at work and felt a somethings wrong sensation and my wrist hurt real bad. I started freaking out saying I had to leave something is wrong with my children. Coworkers thought I was nuts there hadn't even been a phone call received. They said they really needed me to stay and I told them I will quit or they can let me go. I rushed home to find my two least not home and as I ran back out the front door to go look for them they pulled up. They had both been in a car wreck in different vehicles with each other. They refused to go by ambulance to the hospital so I took them my youngest son's wrist was hurt and had bleeding from his liver and my daughter had hit her head and busted out the back glass and took a gear shift to the stomach. His car went under her truck as he had popped a hill she was stopped making a turn. Don't really understand it myself but I know what I experienced. Crazy stuff. I too have seen black shadows following me. It scared me to death and I hope I never see another one. I found out later my grandma experienced dark shadows or clouds before someone died in our family. The first time I seen one, my uncle had passed that night, the next two there were no deaths following. I prayed I would never see another one and continue to pray that. I don't understand any of that I just know I don't want to experience it ever again. Wish I could post a picture of mom on here.

People who aren’t from the mountains and hollers don’t understand the superstitions that goes along with that. You can find so many books about ghost stories in Appalachia. I remember my grandpa ( a WV coal miner) always told stories about Jazz Holler and the bloody miner’s clothes.
@gardensofthegods2 жыл бұрын
Maybe you could tell that story here and maybe some of the others when you find the time
@gardensofthegods2 жыл бұрын
I'm wondering if what you call Holler here is the way you all say Hollow ? Or does it actually mean something else ?

I don’t doubt that Loretta had ghosts, or her mother passed on her “gift” to her. I have had encounters, and dreams that are very strange. Also, the Civil War saw so many men cut down on battlefields, and so many women grief stricken. The house is something out of the old south, and I would love to visit. RIP Loretta.❤

I grew up listening to folk like Loretta, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard...I have always loved her and still do..I messed up around Christmas with my timing..We went to Memphis and saw Graceland and then headed towards Nashville with intentions to spend the night at her ranch..I didn’t get my timing right and we got there 4 minutes after they closed..I was going to spend the night but we have tickets at the Ryman the next day so we looked around, took loooots of outside pics but hubby wanted to go on to Nashville since we wouldn’t have time to tour it the next day..It is beautiful...One day I want to go back, just me...lol

Thank you. So so much for posting this. Growing up, I stayed weekends by my grandparents. I slept on the floor or their living room with my younger sister and they slept on the couch. We watched classic travel channel paranormal shows every Friday and Saturday night. Once DVR came out, we recorded this and would rewatch it every weekend. All these many years later, my grandpa died unexpectedly. I looked for stuff we all Watched back then. And I found this video. And I cried a lot or happy tears. Thank you.

Her son that died, Jack,was said to have been awakened by a confederate ghost pulling on his boots, trying to pull him out of bed. What the ghost was trying to do is steal his boots because the Confederates were very poorly equipped and often had to wrap their bare feet in rags after their own boots wore out, therefore when they came across a dead soldier they would remove the boots and keep them.I think the dose that came across him laying prone in the bed with his boots someone made them think that he was dead there for not using his boots so they were trying to remove them.

+Baby Bunch i can say that i know Earnest is still a drunk and living off of his mom.I went to the show at the State Fair in Atlanta,Ga. about 4 or 5 years ago and though he was playing in her band as he does today,she made a quip during the show about him been drinking and people started to laugh thinking it was just part of the show but afterwards the people who had vip passes, like myself, got to meet her.She didn't actually "meet" us,she stayed on the bus and we were told she would sign one item.I understood because Loretta was already like 78 or 79yo and we could tell by the end of the show she was very tired.Peggy and Patsy were the ones getting the one item from us to sign and wrote our names on a sticky note and placed it on the item so Loretta could personalize it to us.Well,while waiting to get closer to the front to give my Loretta discography collection(the one that has her face on the front and is gray) Earnest came stumbling past us with some "thirsty" floozy on each arm and we heard Loretta yell at him as he came off the bus that if he ain't back within the hour this bus leaves without him.He mumbled something about just wanting a drink.As he walked passed us with those floozy's,he absolutely reeked of whiskey.I don't know if you know but when i call them "thirsty floozy's" it means thirsty to get close to a celebrity and will do anything or anyone to get what they want.

Such a huge fan of Loretta Lynn!! Went to the plantation almost 7 years ago and got to experience some haunting while we were there! Before going I was hoping we would get to see or hear something while there. About scared everyone that was on the tour with us. But I am so glad to say I have got to experience not only the history and tour of her beautiful house but also hauntings! I can wait till I can go back again!

Love Loretta, always have....only seen her once in concert, but I didn't even have to see her live to know she had a special gift given to her. Native people that have not lost their traditional sacred way know many things about spirit, afterlife, and respect. Loretta is lucky the spirits they see are not evil but still, there are ways to help them cross over and go home, but if Loretta is fine with them staying there, then why would they leave!

I have loved Loretta from the1st time I ever heard her sing. My sweet husband and I had gone to the Ranch a few times. So much to LOVE there. Our 1st and every visit to her home in Hurricane Mills we would drive real slow with the windows down to deeply suck up the most incredible, spiritual awakening fragrance in the air that we could never get enough of. The only other place I've ever experienced that fragrance was where I was born and raised in the Catskill Mts. of N.Y. From the age of 5, I always wanted to go to the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville TN. Daddy never missed listening to WSM GRAND OLE OPRY and WWVA Wheeling WVA. I'm specifically writing here to tell of an experience I had that I never got over. We had a beautiful motor coach and got to stay at Loretta's camping area. Wonderful!! As always we went to the main grounds, picked a few four leaf clovers, (Sorry, couldn't resist). Walked around everything feeling so spiritually uplifted. Then we toured the Ranch House. We were both loving every bit of the experience/ journey. As we approached the kitchen I suddenly froze. My husband asked what was wrong. "I don't know" I told him. It was as though my body went on auto pilot. And without warning the tears began to flow rapidly down my cheeks. I felt like an idiot, embarrassed as others couldn't help but notice. I never, ever understood the reason. As much as I've studied Loretta's and Mooney's stories, I never (or don't recall) having ever heard about the ghost stories until today. Goosebumps ran thru my body as I partially relived that frozen moment once again. I so wish I knew what it was that moved me so. I thank God for that trip where we also were thrilled out of our minds to get to set outside to see and listen to our incredible Loretta Lynn. She just had cataract surgery and how she could care enough about her fans to perform under those conditions is beyond me. GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS LORETTA! P.S. I Lost my Angel husband, my country music and business partner, my everything, May 23rd. 2014 to a head-on collision with a horse running loose from Jayell Ranch near our Gatlinburg home, next to Dollywood in Pigeon Forge. The Ranch owner had 18 citations. 13 horses, all finally corralled but the one that got us. Now life is nothing but memories! Thank You Loretta, forever for the many magnificente memories I will carry to my grave. At almost 82 it might not be long!! " I will always love you" Loretta❤ Lynn.
