WHAT an amazing 👏 song ❤️ and thank you so much for writing a legendary song. I sing it ALL the time in my acoustic sets and am a Singer/songwriter from south of Pittsburgh and sort of the area of Adrian Michael's, the producer for JellyRoll. Plan on moving to Myrtle Beach SC and singing in the music venues there. Just wanted to thank you again for the talent that you have ❤

You are welcome. Sorry, but the lady in the video misleads a bit. She wrote 3 lines at most. I wrote most of that song for Tim while riding north to Tennessee. I don't mean to step on her toes but it bugs me to watch her talk about thinking of the kids when she did no such thing. Unless she mean the first two lines only. In which case I could be a bit out of line. I am always down to help a dreamer become the real deal which is kind of how I saw Tim when we met. From the heart truth is all you need for talent as a writer. Singer? From the heart commitment. All else is just loving grace and honor. Say hi at some point. Maybe we write one you can feel as well. I have nothing better to do.

Don't know if Lori will ever see this, I play bass and sing (some) in an Irish Pub in Vegas (played in Nashville 1990-2001), and I brought the family down and sang this to my son Adam on his 21st birthday. Thanks for a very touching song.

Wow. Awesome. Alert. Lori wrote the first 2 lines at most and the popsicle line. The rest come from me. I'm writing to you because I also live in Las Vegas. Perhaps we can write you one of them good old songs worth singing like I did with Tim. Not everything is great, but many are. I have nothing better to do with my time and dreams as my life seems to be heading toward it's end. Not sure when exactly but yeah. Any help I can be, i am your friend.

@@kevindunleavy9316 I've made no secret about it. Tim McGraw certainly knows. He's the one who I gave permission to use them. What bugs me about it though is her mistaken words about the line where she claims her and Tim differed. She says, turn RIGHT back around . Where Tim said what I actually said when he asked me where I was headed after dropping him off that day. I answered, turn back around go help the next one in line who might need me. You see I don't just talk the talk. I walk the walk. I find people like you funny. There I was helping a stranger out in hopes that he might achieve his dreams. I had similar ideas about my own hopes and future. Other things I felt were more important got in the way. I had given Tim the lyrics with my blessing. He made me aware of Lori having a part in this and wrote two lines which started the song. I said well may the Lord bless her as well. I never got paid anything but I don't expect to either. I'm not looking for money. What I did that day I was fine with. It came out of being Humble and Kind. You see, that song was not only written by me, it was about me and the teachings of my wonderful parents. I was asked to help with it. I helped. You act as if I am doing something wrong by telling the truth. Seriously, whats wrong with honor and decency being real? I have other great songs as well. I can prove my ability as a writer. But other than that one statement, I have seen nothing she said that would be false. She speaks of the first couple lines and where her head was at. All very well, true. I don't know if she's aware I wrote it or if she thinks Tim did. She did say in one interview, she first heard the song while in a grocery store I think. But she's always vague about details. But yeah, I did in fact write most of the song. And I will say I did. A few months ago, I offered a couple more songs to Tim. He offer to record them with me together. They are both great songs. I'm hoping that will work out. I'm sick and I am not sure just how much time I have left. If I can earn something decent for my autistic son and wife to have some security before I pass? That would be cool. But even that was not what I contacted Tim for. I just don't want the songs to go to waste as good as I personally think they are. A few weeks later I saw Loris face for the first time and an interview of her claiming to have written Humble and Kind. I have never experienced someone claiming my writing before Tripped me out some. Then I checked her exact words. I felt some differently about it. It's been a stranger week for me as a result. But today, there's an absolute wrong with her story. Just a small thing. But I know her claim to be untrue on that line. I hope such a thing would not hurt her reputation. I'm not trying to do that. But truth does matter. I also recently noticed what a huge hit I actually wrote that day. Do you have any idea what it's like to be brushed aside while people you love the most call you delusional and laugh at you? And at your faith in God? Mean while, many are talking about what great thing you did?

Yes we do. Especially, when someone else claims on CMT that they wrote it. (Lori did not write most of Humble and Kind. I did.) Not meaning to step on dear Lori.. I need to clear up my tone on this. It started with Lori. Continued with Tim. Completed by all of us. BUT, I have betrayed explaination given which I did not mean to do. Memories were foggy, that's all. I hope Tim and Lori might forgive me for the rude phrases I spoke. And, I thank the lesson relearned from childhood stars shining. I am writing the full story of my own experiences connected to these ideas and faith however. If I can get it out proper, it should make for a great read.

Thank you for this acknowledgement of the message in this song. I'm sad to say Lori did not write it. I do wish the very best for Lori and her song writing career but the more I read opinions like yours of the lyric, the more I realize the value of the guidance my parents gave to my brothers and myself. Saddens me that I can not turn to my brothers who have all called me a liar in the past for claiming my own experiences. But truth is truth and the truth is beautiful in my eyes. The Teachings took root and work. I am humble and kind just like I told Tim 33 years ago when I shared these words with him. So, thank you again for your words and opinion of Mom and Dad and what they taught me. You validate thier efforts and love. Thank you for that. Means more than I can say. Validates me as a man and an artist as well. Loves.

She did not write it. Whoa. Sorry about that. Sound like I'm a bit upset to just blurt it out all huffy and puffy like that. Let's try that again. Excuse me, but, ummm that young lady got blessed with a friend in Tim McGraw. Good for her. I am neither jealous or angry over him helping out a friend. But it was a bit of a shock to see her claim she wrote that song. I was not expecting to see or hear someone claim my writing and thoughts as thier own. I think I speak up about it only because I am not a liar. It would be wrong to not tell the truth. I don't mind sharing or even giving something away. But I do hate lies. Sorry. Most of that lyric came from my heart and history.

Wow. Really? I am a genius? Thank you so much. It's all in the heart of a loving child who listened to his parents and the Holy Bible. Telling the truth and meeting Tim helped a little bit as well. Sad. So very sad. Claim another's life experiences as your own for what? Money? Fame? A few smiles on the faces of your children? Stolen smiles at that? For once I get the devil went down to Georgia thing. And oddly, Tim can sing some, so I still desire to record with him, but would he seek to give others my other songs as well? Damn shame. I forgive you Tim and Lori. But I can no longer respect you. I feel so bad for you. How many other songs did you get from other people? I do recall saying something along the lines that if MY WORDS helped to create a big hit I felt i deserved paid a fair share. But, I did not offer services for that reason. I just enjoy the art of music. At least, I know I have written the Song of the Year 2016 Grammy. Your comments are greatly appreciated. Makes me feel good. Thank you all. Perhaps God will provide another way for me on that. However, there is a far bigger issue that has risen to the forefront of my mind. Credibility. I will explain later. Brace yourselves. There be murder involved now. God is watching. 7 1/2 months later. Las Vegas Nevada. 58 dead. Over 500 more injured. Because I was not given respect, no one listened. No one trusted. No one believed. People were murdered. God will hold this against those who betrayed them. Tim, Lori, this is in part, blood on your hands. I am so sorry. All you had to do was tell the truth.

I've said some harsh things this week. I forgot why I accepted to help in the first place. You will hear no more from me about how I wrote this song. Mood swings can do that. I will check myself in the future and hope you will not hold this against me. Please tell Lori I said she wrote a great song and in my delusional moments my chemical imbalances can be a hand full. Sorry I claimed this song as my own. I am closing in on the end of my life. Times short. May you all continue to be blessed. If My Jesus Christ or The Burning Cross still interest you at all, my offer still stands. May you always remain humble and kind. Or of course, you could be honest and tell no lies. You see, I just tried lying and I hate it. If I lie, then I put that strap on the back of the Son of God. I mean look at what He did for you through Tim and myself. Don't take that for granted. You have 5 kids I hear. God has blessed you, but you must be pure and true to keep it. Who are you Lori? The world will forgive you. Don't mess it up by ignoring the very words you claimed to have written. I come as a true friend, not an accuser. My love is free. It always has been. I deserve credit for my words, not for a pat on the back or money. Sure, like nearly anyone, I enjoy such things. However, they are my words and nothing can change that fact. I love Tim. I want nothing but love for Lori. Honesty and honor matter though. Tim arranged and helped on this song and it's not fair to him to not being given credit for his part either. But the history and experiences of these words were lived by myself and my sister and brothers. It touched a personal place in many others as well as the many comments testify to in this forum. Thank you all for your shared words, feelings and experiences. You have warmed my heart so much and let me know that on that day I did more than just give a young man a ride to Tennessee. And to think, I helped to do something that won a Grammy and other awards. Thank you Tim McGraw for showing I could do that. I believe more now I'm my songs than ever before. Did I mention ucab sing as well? I need a band. Seriously. Love to all of you. Lori, lets write one together. Tim, let's do it again and again. The world, thank you and let's keep shining like the beautiful children we are. This is my song. I wrote it. This is your song, you felt it. This is every persons song and Tim sang it for you.
