Lori Daybell’s only response when asked “where are the kids” was that they were happy. I believe her statement during the hearing was a confession. She viewed those murders as mercy killings and believes she did a favor to those she killed by “allowing” them access to heaven. It’s sick and twisty. Adam is the only member of the Cox family who had the intelligence and moral strength to recognize the utter insanity his sister was spouting, not to mention the convenient deaths of 2 ex-husbands. As a result of his concerns and desire to have an intervention, his pathetically weak parents and siblings cut him off. This action was not just utterly despicable, it had disastrous consequences. Had they stood together and stood up to LD, they might have convinced her to get help or, as a result of her completely crazy beliefs, had her committed. Instead, they chose to stick their heads in the sand and deliberately ignore the outrageous events that followed her, even when their own grandchildren suddenly went MIA! And, you don’t have to have experienced a mental health crisis or known someone who has a severe psychopathy to recognize it and seek help for it. But it IS much easier and way less stressful to play dumb than it is to confront a loved one and fight to get them the help they need! I know, because I’ve lived through a mental health crisis and an addiction crisis within my immediate family, and I had no previous exposure to either situation! There is no doubt that it’s incredibly tough to challenge someone you love, but if you truly love them, you understand that their well-being is far more important than your own discomfort! The bottom line is this; when family members, friends, co-workers, acquaintances recognize concerning behavior in someone they know and choose the take the easy road and deliberately ignore the warning signs, they are complicit in any and all actions their loved one takes. As far as I’m concerned, the Cox family (minus Adam and any other member who tried to intervene), Melanie Gibb, and all of the other friends who couldn’t wait to share the things they witnessed AFTER the children’s bodies were recovered or after LD was indicted are at least partially responsible for every tragedy that Lori Cox Daybell orchestrated! We all have a moral duty to protect each other and take action when we witness disturbing or distressing behavior. Doing the right thing can be difficult & even frightening at times, but it’s always necessary.

Therefore, they have to represent her because she is entitled to that right as everybody else is that is charged with a crime in per the US Constitution. And as far as medication goes, Lori cannot be forced to take any medication that she does not want to. She has not been court ordered by a judge to take medication so she doesn’t have to.

I don't think they tortured her perse. I feel like they killed her in the same way the others were (asphyxia). If I heard my family speaking and acting as Lori did, I would have been very alert, worried, and take her husband's warnings very seriously. I was thinking the same but realized how much people still believe someone is “possessed by evil” as opposed to mentally ill. I can see how Lori’s family as a unit is dysfunctional.
