Another amazing video from you. At Titisee, time stamp 25 minutes, there is a heritage train to our left with an old electric motor, what I believe is called a crocodile, leading a collection of old coaching stock.
@wandajackson34105 ай бұрын
Correctly discovered 😊: The old electric locomotive is the so-called "German crocodile" - the E 94 series But more famous and probably better known is the stronger Swiss crocodile, the Ce 6/8" series 😀 Crocodile because the two front sections with the bogies were movable and could turn away from the main locomotive body when cornering in order to be able to negotiate tighter curves... This and the green coloring probably led to this nickname

Strictly speaking, this trip is NOT the "Höllentalbahn", but the so-called "Dreiseenbahn" from Seebrugg to Freiburg! During the trip to Freiburg, the three lakes "Titisee", "Windgfällweiher" and "Schluchsee" can be seen several times 😊 The actual "Höllentalbahn" runs from Freiburg to Donaueschingen and branches off at Titisee station, as can be seen in the video. In any case, an interesting, very nice trip in the best weather - thank you very much 👍🙏

Hollentabahn (Hell's Valley Railway) is showing us some really beautiful regions of Germany. Germany's black forest is AWESOME. 🌴 🌲 🌴😊
@Tom_OB4 ай бұрын
the name has nothing to do with "Hölle" (= hell)... the name comes from the verb "höhlen, aushöhlen" (=to erode, hollow out).
@everettthepetractionguy42224 ай бұрын
The uploader of this video said in the description that "Hollentabahn" would be translated Hell's Valley Railway in english. That's where I got it from.

Video interessante!

Passenger only? The start down to Titisee is a very light weight track build. The use of VAV type track supports/sleepers know for use on poor ground to improve side load distribution and acceleration/braking loads into the ballast. (which looks thin.?). Nice views following the river.
@wandajackson34105 ай бұрын
As far as I know, there is no longer any freight traffic on the "Dreiseenbahn" shown here between Freiburg and Seebrugg, but on the "Höllentalbahn" between Freiburg and Donaueschingen, which branches off from the "Dreiseenbahn" at the Titisee station shown in the video! There is a paper factory in Neustadt which is served several times 😀 By the way, the train does not run along a river!!! In keeping with the name "Dreiseenbahn", which means translated „Three lake railway“, the three lakes are called "Titisee", "Windgfällweiher" and "Schluchsee" 😊

🙂The Old German word Aha, Middle High German Ahe, means nothing else than spring or water. It can be assumed that the settlement was named by its founders as a "settlement on the water, at the source of the Aha Stream". See also Aach, the name of several rivers, or the German city Aachen.
