Well first of all, it has to do with the fact money is not made on Fox due to low viewership. Cable TV needs high ratings to justify having a show, because their audience attracts the commercial or marketing departments for certain companies to promote their product while people are watching the show. Gifted had low ratings. But had a dedicated fan base, which is why it did well on most streaming platforms. Unfortunately though it wasn't making enough money to justify the show as it was the least watched show for Fox.
