I had two which looked more like small trees. They didn't really get "established" as you say and now I know why. They were planted under a very large oak tree. It got sun, but I think they were starved for light. When it got to 7 degrees in 2021, that did them in. Looking for more now to put in a different location. Good video.

We had an large older bush when we moved here in zone 7B Arkansas. Last year we had record week of record cold winter. The bottom 3/4 of it is still bare but the top part is blooming and has leaves! What do we do? Can we cut it way down to about a foot and start over? It has suckers etc. coming up from the ground underneath. Thank you!

I live in Northern Florida and I planted about 15 of these, 3 gallons each. They seem really scraggly compared to yours. It was planted with a ligustrum and it gets sun or filtered sun for about 8 hours a day. Am I doing something wrong or should I have covered them the one night we hit 32 degrees?

Yep, loves that. It will color better in sun. If you get it in too much shade the color will tend towards muddy green.
