I appreciate the quiet dialogue. I at first played it while I painted but when you stopped talking I had to stop painting and just look. Some times I forget that quiet is the best "noise" while I paint. I've never been to a LA gallery, so thanks for the experience.

Yes, I liked the frank appraisal on the first show too which adds another layer of engagement. Though I didn't connect with too much of the artwork this time there was such a variety of approaches and that's an experience in itself.

I agree with you completely! The works of Richard Schmid, Tibor Nagy, Jeremy Mann, Cesar Santos, Jeremy Lipking and many others are true artists. The more traditional artist has to learn the basic fundamentals of value, colour, edge and drawing to accomplish great art. It is extremely difficult to master techniques in values, colour and drawing in art. Art that simply splash on large patches of colour doesn't have to worry about drawing skills or getting values and colours correct. This is very difficult to do. One day I hope the ignorant public will wake up from their 'woke' crap on art and finally appreciate great art that employs basic skills and artitistic sensitivity in producing great art.

Very much agree with you on the Condo show. I'm a big fan of his but this show just seems like more of the same, as opposed to his previous two shows in New York. For me, he seemed to be evolving in a very interesting direction in those two New York shows( You should be able to find them on KZbin). On another note, It's interesting to catch glimpses of the streets of L.A., the ugly streetscapes, as opposed to the beautifully landscaped buildings of the galleries themselves. Just a thought. As always though, thank you for the videos, always enjoy them.

Thanks for a(nother) look at L.A. galleries. I've visited L.A. a few times, but still don't know much about any of the art galleries there. And I wanna go there again (from Santa Barbara) in the Summer. We had an exhibition of Peter Halley's art here at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art about six or seven years ago. A lot of contemporary art doesn't appeal to me, but - on principle - I like to see people using their imaginations...

Well you really packed a lot into this and it's mostly thumbs up for me. Not a fan of Condo but after seeing this show I'm really warming up to his work. I actually think just the opposite of what you stated and feel this is a very strong body of work however I do quite like the abstract picture that you mentioned. Good to hear your own thoughts as well. Loved the ceramic stuff and while I've always liked Peter Halley's stuff, at the end of the day, for me, it's just expensive decoration and I don't see that it has anything whatsoever to do in any way shape or form as social commentary.

Yeah I agree with some of the other posts...the studio/gallery spaces are almost better looking than the art. It looks like Condos paints the same painting over and over. Style over substance. AND I really can do w/o the "artful" splashes. I see you are doubling your vid length time. BRAVO.I applaud your consistent craftsmanship. I hope you are getting paid for all your excellent work.

Not a huge fan of a lot of the art but respect it. Too many comments here are unnecessarily negative. Some comments gave the flair of NYC elitism. Having gone to school then lived in NYC and now WeHo based, those elitism comments are especially off base

these two manufactured revolutionaires seen at 3:25 are the real artists. By including paintings by real artists as the background aesthetic for a carefully color cooridinated compliment to their outfits, which I assume to be last seasons couture brand "streetwares", they have managed to not only demonstrate the authenticity of their sophisticated taste for culture and meaurable patronage to the arts community, while also impressing their instagram followers and surely amassing dozens of 'likes' per each adderal influenced highly edited instagram images.

the first two galleries artwork adds to the confusion of life as well as the artist. I love Calder's early work. Halley's work has nice colors I do not think he reached his goal. Schmalix muted colors and cartoon figures did not impress me. These artists need to go back to the drawing board. the moving artwork is interesting and profound Du's work is interesting but nothing that has not been done before. Benzos is very cool as well as Iglesias work thank you for the art show in LA

Nothing new in the west, I would say Weak Art to this art or Infantile Art, I can't help but marvel at this immaturity. "Herman's Ceramics embrace the Japanese aesthetic of Wabi-Sabi", I hope that the artist does not promote his art as Wabi-Sabi, because this ceramic art has nothing to do with it. This is exactly the problem of today's art, it tries to interpret the tradition (mostly imitating great artist) without understanding the essence.
