This song was published September 21, 1972. The TV show was performed one month later. In voice , guitar and floute , Eduardo "cat" Alquinta (died in 2003) . Piano (celesta) : Claudio Parra, still active . In Bass : Mario Mutis, still active. In Drumms: Gabriel Parra, (died in 1988, and today replaced by his daughter ) and in sintetyzer Eduardo Parra , today retired by sick. Original formation from 1963. This band is the second oldest active , after the Rolling Stones

Many thanks!!! Such a classic song from them and from Latinamerica. From Chile to the World. Los Jaivas could be the more influential latin rock band ever, mixing rock with latin folk instruments, like flutes, bongos and charangos, building a really innovative sound for those days. The drummer was in another level. They were specially recognized in europe. Regards from Chile!!

Also, they've played in iconic places like Machu Pichu, La Antartida and the Atacama desert. This song is about a little girl which lose her dad on a cold night... because they were homeless.. the singer saw this on the newspaper and inspired this song... "for the daughter of a man with crystal eyes and newspaper sealed on skin" the man died, so that's crystal eyes, and homeless people when died on street, they cover them with paper, or newspaper.... and that's the sealed body... sad , but beautiful song for the little girl

So that you don't have trouble with the pronunciation, the group was initially called "The High bas".... But to make it sound good in Spanish, they started calling themselves Los Jaivas.

El nombre original de la banda era en idioma ingles: "High bass" la pronunciacion en ingles suena asi : Jaibas Jaibas o jaiba son crustaceos del mar de chile osea cangrejos Osea la traduccion de la banda al ingles es "The crabs" que es como suena al oido high bass en español😂 Dado ese detalle de que el público chileno decia y escribia los jaibas en vez de High bass es que la agrupación se rinde y decide adoptar el nombre popular como suena y como se escribe en español😅
