Ballet Folklorico Tapatio is a neighborhood dance group led by two women in the community, Patricia Cueva and Consuelo Goodman. They give their heart to their efforts with the children, and it shows. Es bonito participar en las tradiciones del baile mexicano pero es mas bonito bailarlo al maximo por el puro gusto de hacerlo. Felicidades, pero que no quede en solo participar y tener puesto un traje sino que practiquen de tal manera que sea algo excelente de baile, coreografía, cuadratura y energía.

Los Machetes is the name of the music. A machete is the large knife carried by the two boys. It is used to cut sugar cane in Cuba, and any manner of things in Mexico.

Hi! It's been a LOOOOONG time, like 14 years since my friends in this video did this routine. I was in this troupe, but not in this particular routine. I am friends with some of the girls in the troupe still, now that we're all young women. If I remember correctly (from when I was 5 or 6 years old lol) the Ballet Folklorico knew a lady who made our skirts for us. I still have all of my practice skirts, and the dance skirts I grew into as I got bigger, as well as all my mom's dance skirts and all her different outfits from various regions of Mexico. Making the skirts was a LABORIOUS process that took a small team of ladies, yards and YARDS of fabric and ribbon. Thank you for noticing them and the hard work that went into the costumes and our routines. The Ballet Folklorico Tapatio de San Diego thanks you!

You sound like my brother (_ _") why do you hate it?!! Folklorico is amazing *-* a lot of people who try it find it boring or hard...or both. I will admit that Folklorico is hard...but the satisfaction of dancing a type of dance that many people that are young do not like to dance is amazing. ^^

I have looked all over for small unsharpened machetes for my children's group - cannot find 'em anywhere. Your children's group did a great job-they must have fun at practice! Please find out for me where the machetes were purchased, or an email where I can write and ask. Teaching folklorico to our children saves our culture - thank you for your work!
