Perdóname de antemano por cualquier error 0:00 Soy Mauri de Los Retros, y todos los ojos están puestos en mí porque… resulta que tengo la oportunidad de estar aquí. 3:12 Bueno, originariamente la banda empezó, a lo mejor hace casi tres años, quizá dos años y medio. Al principio nos llamábamos “Retrospect”, pero no podíamos quedarnos con ese nombre durante mucho tiempo porque nos habrían demandado si lo hubiéramos hecho. Así que, pensé que “Oye, quedamos con “Retro” en el nombre” y un día yo estaba en vivo en Instagram y alguien mencionó “Los Retros”, el cual me hizo acordarme del tiempo en el que mi madre escuchaba a muchas bandas con “Los”, el que quiere decir “the” en español. Y muchas de esas bandas eran como “Los Freddy’s”, “Los Terricolas” y “Los Angeles Negros”. Por lo tanto me quedé como “oye, ¿sabes qué? a lo mejor serás un poco como un recuerdo de mi pasado.” Lo que mis padres solían poner. El cual, no me importaba en ese época, pero ahora suelo escucharlo mucho. 4:00 Crecer en Oxnard… eh… nací en Ventura, y entonces viví en Oxnard durante dos años. Me mudé, viví en Hueneme, el cual es, Port Hueneme, durante, no muy largo, quizá durante once años, y volví a Oxnard. Creciendo de niño yo escuchaba muchas canciones de aleatoria. Muchas canciones que mis hermanos ponían y yo captaba en eso. Pero sabía que había más de eso, por supuesto, porque escuchaba muestras de hip-hop y me sumergí en las muestras en sí y quería escuchar los originales porque sabía que había un original y eran personas tocaban los instrumentos. Pero, una cosa que me quedó grabada fue… mis padres ponían el rock español los años 70. Y ahora resulta que me gustan mucho esos éxitos y me doy cuento de que… supongo que mi madurez ha arrancado de algún modo y ahora suelo componer canciones al igual que aquellas. 5:05 Para crecer como músico, todo depende, número uno, de lo que quiera conseguir. Si quieres la fama, una mejor situación financiera, o simplemente lo haces porque a tí te gusta hacerlo (el que es lo que estoy haciendo). Supongo que sería la primera pregunta que querrás hacerte. Y entonces, en segundo lugar, si no puedes hacerlo por tu cuenta, si no tienes suficientes conocimientos, para convertirse en algo, supongo que “pregunta a esos que lo saben”. Y si no puedes, yo diría que tenemos el internet, es muy fácil averiguar cómo dar ese segundo paso. Y, en tercer lugar, yo diría, no seas demasiado engreído. Respeta a lo que haces por lo que haces, y hazlo para ti mismo. 6:00 Muchas de las ideas para el álbum Retrospect fueron sobre de mi esposa, quien está sentada ahí ahora mismo. La mayoría de las canciones se trata de ella. Tiene mucho que ver con antes de estar juntos, antes de que convertirnos en una “cosa”, antes de comprometernos. Hubo un momento en el que sentí que estaba sólo y a nadie le importaba yo.. y yo compondré canciones sobre eso… ojalá que alguien me escuche y yo crezca grande.. eso fue mi primera idea. Pero a lo largo del camino empecé a aprender utilizar mis emociones y sentimientos para convertirme en algo mejor. De hecho fue más bien una lección para mí. Muchas de las canciones son para personas que, quizá, hayan experimentado las mismas cosas que yo. Y ojalá que se conviertan en algo mucho mejor y sientan mejor de los tiempos tristes en sus vidas y sepan que hay mucho potencial, sobra potencial, yo lo sé por seguro. 7:00 La última canción, no quiero dar miedo a nadie, que es el último día en la Tierra y hay una conspiración detrás de ello. Es más de ser feliz no importa lo mal que estén las cosas, aunque es el último día en la Tierra, si hay personas que padecen, sabes, sé amable con los demás, sé cariñoso, respétate, y respeta a todos los demás, y pásalo bien. 7:22 Hay un nuevo álbum, se estrena, pues, ojalá que se estrene. Espero que mi sello discográfico es como “sí, está listo”. “Happy Hour”, como se llama el álbum. Es un álbum funk y jazz. Muy inspirado por los años 70, mucho de los funk que se estrenaba en esa época. Definitivamente necesita volver para demostrar a los chicos, en estos días, mucho de lo que escuchamos es en realidad un descendiente de cosas de mucho antes de lo que habíamos nacido. Y hay mucha más música para escuchar. 8:00 Soy Mauri de Los Retros y estás sintonizado a “Ones to Watch” (los que hay que ver)

The retros reminds me the songs of los pasteles verdes, and maybe some other bands of Chile, even Peruvian bands (my country), or some tracks about that time.
