Really enjoying your content. I recently did a 10 mile (well...actually 9.6 mile) circular that including Loosehill, and the ridgeway to Mam Tor. It was a quite a hot day and I much prefer to walk on a cool day.

Ontario Hiking Trails thanks. And thanks for the sub. It’s a beautiful area to hike, better without the mist though 👌🏼

Great video Anthony. We've never walked the Winnats Pass part of your route, we've only walked along the road there, must do it sometime, views look amazing.

Jean Pipes yes mum it is well worth paying a visit. Easy enough to get on to from Mam Tor side but a tough climb or quite dangerous drop from Castleton side. A detour from the road worth doing though x

Have you got a link which contains this full route? Planning to go soon

Link in the description didn’t work unfortunately

Apologies for that... Try this one which, I've edited the link in description too osmaps.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/route/4237346/PEAKS-Winnats-to-Mam-Tor-Ridge-Walk-from-Castleton. I've since done this route in reverse which is why I had edited it and think it is easier than the direction I travelled in the video as it's easier to climb up the tricky Winnat's Pass section than it is to drop down it. Enjoy the walk, some great views on a clear day.

Ahh I see that makes sense thank you. So you would recommend to do the route that you’ve posted in reverse ? Would you say the Winnats Pass way is ok and safe to do for beginners or best to leave that part out? Many Thanks once again

@@abdurrahmaanmanga794 I would say it is safe, it will test the legs out for sure on the climb up but I took a few of my friends to it, 2 of whom hadn't any walking before and they had no problems other than a bit of a shortage of breath by the time they got to the top maybe. It is quite a steep climb, but better to go up it opposed to coming down it in my opinion so yes, I would advise going clockwise. So I would leave Castleton and head south west then if you are looking at the map, the path bends to the left and then makes a 90° left turn, it isn't signposted but in front of you will be a gulley, it isn't seen in my video but that is where you want to climb up. This photo isn't all that obvious, but you climb up from where you can just see the people at the bottom www.flickr.com/photos/143143793@N08/49635765058/in/album-72157713413014673/ Once you get up that steep climb, just follow the fence line.

I'm planning to do that route next week how many miles is it?not to worry you mentioned 7 miles in the video lol.Atb Ana
@pipes-hikes3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it’s about 7 miles. You might want to check out whether they are still working on the ridge path though as I believe part of it has been closed for a few weeks for maintenance to the path. I think there is a lower diversion set up but think the section between Hollins Cross and Back Tor may still be closed.
