I’m often late and it’s stressful during the ride and when entering the door 😂. But beyond that It feels good to sleep 30 minutes longer. I get more stressed when I’m 10 minutes early, I just hate waiting. I guess that’s also an explanation as to why late people are successful they don’t wait for things they need, they’re active and daring. I always got A’s and knew students who came early left the last and still got B’s and C’s. Teachers and maybe bosses will put up with it easier if you’re excellent at your work.

Absolutely true! I myself have never been fired but I also have a giant, enormous issue with punctuality. But I have found that when I demonstrate my value to my job, through hard work and dedication, my bosses will let me get by. Heck, they'll ask me not to go or even call asking me to come back. In fact, I actually tell my interviewers that I can literally promise to be nothing but an asset to the company because although there are people who are better off than me, may have a more open schedule than I do, and will get there earlier than I, I can 100% guarantee that no one will outwork me. And even though I'm pretty much always late, my bosses always truly value me. So you are indeed correct 👍🏼

I am someone who is chronically late. I have struggled with time management all of my life and I am constantly working on it. I have lost jobs, friends and the respect from people I worked hard to earn it from because of my chronic lateness. I know that a lot of people think that those who are chronically late are inherently rude, inconsiderate, selfish, lazy, and or are disrespectful. Because lets just face the facts here - no matter what the reasons are for why someone is always running chronically late, it is a terribly annoying inconvenience to those who are left waiting on them... It's easy to assume that a person who's always running chronically late, thinks that the world revolves around them, and that their time is more valuable than yours. Unless you really are dealing with someone who thinks like that - please let me assure you that those who tend to be chronically late are not doing it as a reflection of how they feel about you or the level of respect they have for you. This is about them and their internal processing system. As a person who has been chronically late my entire life, let me tell you that some of us literally cannot accurately judge how long a task can take us, which gives us a propensity to losing minutes, sometimes by the hour fulls. Many of us see ourselves as multitaskers, and can actually believe that we function better under pressure. However, research suggests that people who believe they excel under the pressure of multitasking are not very good at it. (Obviously.) The habit exists because we are less capable of blocking out distractions to focus on a singular task. The act of multitasking can overwhelm us, which results in losing track of time. Those of us who incorrectly multitask will also fall prey to an irresistible temptation to do just one more thing before hitting the road, which also contributes to miscalculating time. Another thing...I for one have a brain that is constantly racing 24/7 and it tends to disrupt my whole life by way of procrastination, which has regrettably been the culprit to my being tardy quite a few times. I sincerely sympathize with the aggravating stress and difficulties that my lateness has regrettably caused others. I recognize that I have a problem, and I will always have to try my hardest to overcome it. I hope this helps those who are "chronically punctual" understand a little better... Trust me, it's not always a true sense of arrogance or a desire to exert power - it's often much deeper than that, and can be very difficult to cure.

Thank you for saying it this well, this is also the story of my life and honestly I am embarrassed when I am late , even if is just by 1 minute.. is the fact that I always say, from tomorrow I will do my best to leave home at least 5min earlier.. somehow, for all the reasons you mentioned… I end up in the same situation or even later…no matter how early I wake up or how much time I have to get ready… I just miscalculate time and am too optimistic that I can do so many activities in that time frame.. As you,I am also a person who thinks a lot and gets distracted so easily… I often zone out when someone is talking to me… otherwise I have always been a good student, with great grades, I have got few qualifications and a Bachelor’s Degree.. I just am too slow maybe doing a task that others might complete quicker…my excuse is that I tend to so things to the best of my ability but no sure that is an enough reason

I own a business that is under a huge franchise chain... and when we have our yearly gathering... after many years of experience, the organizers will always ask us all franchisee to be at the gathering really early.. like 8am... cos they know we will eventually turns up an hour later... around 9 to 9.30 am... and mind you these people are pretty successful in life... with many different kind of business ventures...

I usually screw myself up if I’m early - forget to clock in or some such…- I’ve have a coolie cup (to keep drink cans cold) and it says “ Sorry I’m late. But imagine how much more you would be able to get done if you managed your time properly and arrived at the time you were scheduled. Lateness is a form of disrespect especially if it chronic. It shows that you are reckless with time management and cannot be trusted to keep track of such a small task, showing up when you are appointed. Sure, you may live longer, but who will want to make plans with someone they know will always be consistantly inconsiderate of their time. So you will live a longer life, but a lonelier one as well. I don’t stress because I’m early. And I don’t wait for people who are late. I just fire them or stop being friends with them. If it is a family member who is consistently late I just tell them whatever event we are meeting at starts earlier than what it does. If they show up on time for once they get a taste of their own medicine while they wait for me to arrive.

I’m always late to everything, work, funerals, dates almost everything😂. But here is my one hack, work harder than everyone, learn more, basically I wanna make sure I’m better than everyone and I’m willing to go an extra mile to do that, why?? Just so no one complains about me coming late😂, and so people realize the difference when I’m there. Eg I work 8-5 but I’m always 1-2hrs late, in worst days I’m 3hrs late😂😂, but I’m always the last to leave trying to be ahead😂. My boss has never complained, and never gives me a hard time with that, apparently it’s a different story when others do that😂😂

I have to doubt that scientific fact being 100%. Because my mom is always late because she forgot to turn off the iron or curling iron and she just NEVER I'd ready for anything. She is recently retired from teaching. She gets up at 430 am everyday. School doesn't start till 8 am. She has plenty of time but is still late to school and everything else. She is one of the most stressed person I know. Me I'm late maybe 2% of the time and I can get ready in 15 min. My biggest stress is traffic and getting dressed because I'm disabled.
