I actually think you're right. I was in a long distance relationship for about 2 years and I'm telling you that the message this song gives me seems so familiar for some reason. It always hurts when he's not there and it actually made me want to end it several times. One day, I actually did. I knew we loved each other so much but we were too young and immature to survive throughout our relationship. I knew ending it was the right choice. But that moment when I ended it, everyone kept telling me that "If you guys were meant to be, you'll find each other again" and I think that's what the song tries to imply. "I think I wanna lose you, just to find my way back to you" -> The hope of loving each other again and finding each other despite the obstacles that led you astray in the past. "Cause I'm in California, You you out in Georgia, but were both in the same room" -> It felt as if those times we videochat each other. We were in completely different places but were here communicating. Sometimes, we even watch videos at the same time haha This is my own perspective though and I just felt like replying XD

I think it depends on persepctive e but it doesnt necessarily have to be specifically about long distance? Cuz I think the main like...message is where hes saying "I think I want to lose you just to find my way back to you." Almost like saying he or whoever the song is about (imaginary people-he and she)the guy wanting to go on a break, having even more time away from her even if they're already like apart distance wise. Cuz he still loves her but those feelings are muddled up and just...theres no spark anymore hence they're in a way in the same room with the same feelings although they're apart. So he wants some space to close his mind, and then hell realize after being alone, finding himself again, and realizing what it was that he loved so much about her- all her positive, flaws, her, why he loves her. hell go back after their break or breakup. "I think I wanna lose you, just to find my way back to you."

I love this song so much because when my husband and I were younger we had to break up. Honestly our timing wasnt right at the time, our maturity wasnt there and we both had some growing we had to do independently. For a few years we didnt talk at all, we both saw different people, however in the end we got back together and happily married. We picked up like nothing had ever happened, and he's truly the love of my life. Still a butt head though ;p.

i just watch this elderly couple who used to get married for 25 years, divorced, but a couple years later they get back together. The lady, the one that decided to ended their marriage said that at the end of her "first married" she felt so lost, that she couldn't even love the things that she used to love before like herself and his husband, so she decided to ended it. But when 9/11 happened, she decided to love those people that she cherished the most, and her ex husband was the first person in those line. This song is literally me rn. Recently i was the one who broke it off with my bf; we ended on good terms. But it feels like im the only one still in love with him.
