Nice work Chris . I have a friend that purchased one of these. He had a few issues also out of the box but over all he is happy with it. It's his first 1/5 . His biggest problem has been getting replacement parts. Now he already wants a losi 5t . I have also just purchased a 5t and man what a machine

Nice video, thanks for sharing. I'm actually looking at a DBXL just to play around with, no racing. But I found your video informative. I'm glad to see you didn't make the typical upgrade mistake and replace the servo arms with aluminum. The steering arm failure you had is actually a safety feature. You want the composite arm to fail like that so other parts don't break. If that part have been aluminum you would have probably been replacing more expensive front steering components. Also, if your going to be upgrading to lipo, you might also want to remind your viewers to purchase servos that are 6 volt compatible. Most of the larger size are but it's still worth mentioning. Keep up the good work.

Hi Chris and again a big thx for your vids and your honest opinion on various cars ! Your videos about the HPI Savage XL Octane I`ve seen unfortunatly too late ... same as you and many others I had much problems "out of the box" with this car (defective failsave, loose cables in the receiverbox, defective clutch, evil disguised carburetor and so on) . But your vids about the FR TR4 and the Losi DBXL have made my decision easier and so I´m happy with my TR4 since two weeks :) ;) Greets from bavaria

I'm hopeful you get the DBXL and the Savage XL running well without major expense, I currently run 1/10 scale SCT and really want to go bigger. No way can I afford the 5T, but maybe a used DBXL or Savage if they ever fix all the bugs. Thanks for all the trouble shooting Chris, can't wait to see how you paint the DBXL.

Nice video. I like the look of the dbxl. of the popular 1/5 scales i see easily available in the UK it appeals the most to me due to price/ 4wd, brand.. upgrade-ability.. I like the five but not so much the sct body or the price... out of interest would an alloy servo arm not have been an adequate fix to the servo issue? for someone who wanted to stick with the stock servo early on? or in your opinion are they really poor and have to be replaced? cheers

Watched your video on the unboxing and saw the shock problem mine was ok 👍🏻 but my steering servo during break in second tank only would turn left not rt so your so right hit or miss

Hey man, going on what you've said and shown us, I think I'd sooner save up some more and buy the Losi 5t instead cos that car has obviously been built on a low budget and the cost to upgrade it would surpass the extra you would pay for the 5T , great vid Chris.

I was looking at this Hi-tec servo you recommended to replace my stock spektrum one which is getting intermittent failures. I'm running an AVC system on my DBXL and noticed that the Hi-tec servo is analog. Just something to keep in mind when people are running configurations that require digital servos. The AVC doesn't work with analog so I had to opt for something digital. I'm going for the Savox 0236MG instead. Great price on the Hitec servo though if you don't need digital.

Nice video Chris. I enjoyed watching you open my eyes to the DBXL. Honestly the truck still doesn't appeal to me. I own the 5T as you already know and I have put that truck through so much abuse and jumping and knock on wood to this day I have not broke a thing on that truck. I have put tons of upgrades but I'm still running stock servos. I'm interested to see if you can turn the DBXL Into a worthy basher. I would love to see what you going to come up with for a color scheme. Maybe go completely different and make it a military vehicle/ armored truck theme. I dunno it just came to me. I alwAyz wanted to pain my PENTA camp for some reason. Like the hat by the way

In Large Sclae, HiTec is easily my servo of choice. I have had a couple of Savox servos go bad in the past.

thanks heli, right now servos are the least of my problems, be nice to run a tank through without breaking something in the driveline. Not sure if I should dump a bunch of money into this rig, of all the brands Ive owned this has been the least reliable one. thanks for reply,tom

All HiTec servos come with a full set of servo horns, and I tend to install them with a fresh one whenever I do swap out a servo.Thank you for the kind words!

jason demello It's a world of difference. I simply had no brakes with the stock setup after running it for 15 minutes. The HiTecs took care of that problem.

Hi Joseph, I have no experience at all with RedCat, but in most cases it really pays off to spend a little extra, or even go second hand and buying a more reputable brand. Either way, please just have fun and make most of your choice!

Joseph, don't buy any rampage x series, they're weak, turnbuckle, servo, bearing carrier, etc, engine it will die if over heat,I know this because I have rampage xb and xt, and I have losi dbxl to, there is 2 think you need to replace on dbxl on my experience is the rx battery mine it doesn't last 3/4 of tank and bearing from fast eddy bearing

+Lord Warke I would personally go for the Baja, but if you are looking at getting into 4wd, this one is a legit option that does require a couple of touches to make it work as it should.

Come on paul upgrading is the best part of rc, having a custom rc built to a personal taste makes them our own. I know you like upgrades too and you love mods. But ther is definitely a limit on spending for sure but its too easy to over shoot it in this game lol. I do but I always do it over time and use money from other rc things to fund them. I won a nice cash injection ladt night and thinking on getting a carbon chassis for my micro losi but I know its probably a useless upgrade just for looks so idk. Some days I just think hell ill just sell everything and buy a new km baja for 380 but large scale is a pain.

Get another stocker, they work better than the hitec. I put mine in and within 1 minute the throttle it lost all torque and couldnt move and started to lurch. Then I was too far away to stop it and it was on about 150% throttle and smashed it into a fence. Later the steering lost all torque also.
