I’m in Massachusetts and you need Medicaid to get services but a lot of people don’t qualify because they have private insurance. If they do, the copays are so expensive that people can’t afford rent, mortgages, utilities and food. Then being on Medicaid causes long waits for specialized doctors and services and long drives to reach doctors. There is an ongoing lawsuit for lack of proper coverage from state health care for children with disabilities. It’s wonderful that you guys advocate and you inspired me to get more involved and learn more. I went to a family voice series discussing issues that the court monitor reports to the judge. Thank you for your inspiration!

Just subscribed but I have been watching the amazing progress Abbie has made because of your advocacy, patience and pure, unadultered love. I don't have autism in my family but my understanding of autism has increased exponentially because of your vlogs. I can now see the "normal" teenage behavior Abbie exhibits as opposed to a sensory overload. I am Canadian, happily so, and my heart aches for your healthcare system and, from an outsider looking in, it is inconceivabe to me to to have no concern for my neighbours, coworkers, childred in need, my friends, etc. From our perspective it appears you will have a tough battle ahead. Keep up your advocacy and please keep vlogging. I watch very few and yours is always first. I admire you all as a family because the three of you give Abbie such an inclusive life. Bravo!!! You are also great teachers, by the way.

It has taught me patience and how to love unconditionally. I definitley get frustrated sometimes especially when you're dealing with a 2 hour crisis. All you want to do is cry because you wish you could take whatever it is away that they're feeling. However I wouldn't change it for the world. If it wasn't for them I wouldn't be the person I am today. I also work in a special needs school fulltime and I love it. Here in Ontario Canada our Premier Doug Ford (governor) slashed funding for Autism and as well as funding for our school system. He roomed having EAs in the classroom and increase class sizes to 40 students as well as cut funding for special education teachers. He slashed funding for the families that need it for ABA therapy and other therapies. The wait list to get children into the therapies is over 3 years long and now it will be more like 6.

My son was in physical therapy for a fractured clavicle for 5 months, and he had to suddenly stop before he could get full equal use of both of his arms because Medicaid wouldn’t cover it. Can you imagine what that would be like for a child and their basic needs? That’s not only taking away what voice they may have, but their basic right to life. In most eyes, children of ASD are just a statistic, a number, or even a filled space in a classroom or home. These are kids, with a heart, even if they can’t always express it. They deserve the right to be able to learn to function in a way that provides them a fulfilled life with goals that they themselves can get excited about. Imagine just not being able to have that anymore. Imagine suddenly stopping that service, and what big of a change and possible regression that holds for some children. Well done Asa and Priscilla!

I have so much to say. Firstly you are the best Advocates for autism, the world needs more people like you. Secondly, although I am not religious, I truely believe we are given children based on our ability to care for them and Abbie is so lucky she got chosen to have you as parents and Isaiah for a brother. You have excelled in your expected parenting ability and have become a well know, well loved face of the Autism community. Being from Australia, I am yet to find someone like you over here. We do have great groups/parents etc but Australia is big so it's hard to find them. You are definitely both a face people can relate back to ABA therapy, because of your advocacy. Lastly, Pricilla, each video you are looking more and more fabulous, the weightloss is so noticeable in your face. As I said on an earlier video comment, I was worried you might lose your personality, just as you were worried, but everyday I see the old you has returned in full! I know you had surgery, then had a cold but you are the same Pricilla we all love, only a shrinking and more healthier version. I'm from Ontario too, and I think the cuts are ridiculous. If I remember correctly, they're going to encourage family members to learn how to facilitate therapies for their children on the spectrum, and give them iPads, instead of actually helping families to get professional help. It's very sad, they forget that things like ABA, speech, and occupational therapy are very expensive. My mom works with special needs children in elementary school, and many if the children she's had are going to lose funding, and therefore will probably lose some the progress they've made so far.

Medicaid in Arkansas has taken on a program that has cut services. It has been a nightmare for all of the families affected!

In Texas we had Medicaid issues big time mainly with speech therapy physical and occupational. They have rules on progress allot of paper work and have slashed how much speech money they will pay started in August all of the insurance providers under Medicaid and Medicare and under the ssi help benefits. It starts small with more rules.

I love that you guys stand up for ABA! Look how far Abbie has come. It works!! Why would they take those important and crucial lifeskills away from these kids?! It's not right!! :(

Just found your channel tonight and I am already hooked! I currently manage a home for adults with developmental disabilities as part of a nonprofit company, which relies on government funding. I am always astounded at the lack of services, even more so when the little services we DO have get taken away. We also have such a difficult time keeping staff around, because the work can be difficult, but they could make more money at McDonald’s. Hats off to you guys standing up for what you believe in!!! ❤️❤️❤️

So sad that so many people will be losing services. Don’t know if you guys noticed but there’s more space in between your arms in your car.

Been going through a lot of hardships currently. I got an amazing job that ended up being a scam 2 weeks before moving from Illinois to New Mexico. I feel so lost and hurt and that I cannot accomplish anything. But seeing how brave and amazing your family is beings happiness to me in these dark times for me.

I feel your pain. Texas Medicaid doesn’t cover ABA at all and PT/OT/ST has been cut by 30-50% in the last 24 months 😪

Hey Maass Family! The upcoming funding cuts/increased workload for ABA providers has got me really feeling strongly about supporting the cause and keeping ABA available for families who need it. Thank you for sharing with KZbin the steps you've taken to support maintaining ABA services in Florida. I know I'm not alone when I say how truly inspiring your family is. Let us viewers know if there are any ways we can support from afar. Love from Wisconsin!

Asa is such a great advocate for not only Abigail but other children (who will become adults) with autism. We send what society calls 'normal' kids to school to learn skills they will need to help them through life that's exactly what ABA therapy does for those with Autism.

First I have to say you are such a fantastic advocate for ABA therapy. If there was a petition to sign, I definitely would sign it, because it is sad to see that they want to cut there pay. I love seeing Abbie laugh and smile. That girl can run and she was adorable running away from you.

Asa, you have the same super power as Pricilla. So does Isaiah and Abbie. Anytime any of you cry, I cry. Empathy is a wonderful thing and you all show it in spades. Jesus was the true example of having and showing empathy and we are to follow in his footsteps, so you all are a wonderful example of that! Much love and I really hope the the ABA therapy gets a win from your state.

Praying hard for this! It seems that you and Priscilla were just born to do this. But I know you have grown so much through the adversity and the triumphs that autism has brought you through. You're perfect for this because you keep it so real and your passion really shows through everything you do! Love you guys!

My son (6yrs old) diagnosed at age 2, Moderate to Severe Autism (possibly Non-Verbal... thankfully my son IS verbal, he actually never stops talking 😊) he also was diagnosed with Severe ADHD, SPD, OCD, and ODD.... My son is in Kindergarten (doing amazing socially, academically he’s having trouble retaining the information being taught) We live in PA, my son has State Insurance (Medicaid-Keystone First) I’ve haven’t tried ABA Therapy for my son YET, but my son’s BSC Therapist started her own company, which is doing what she LOVES and that’s working with kids on the spectrum using ABA Therapy, One on One therapy, Behavioral Therapy etc! I’m currently in the process of switching my son from the company that’s been providing his In-home BSC and TSS therapies for the past 4years, and switching him to the ABA Therapy (which is still his same BSC therapist, except he will go to the therapy center and for the first time since being diagnosed, start ABA Therapy) Here in PA Every 6 Months (at least for my son, idk if it varies case to case) but every 6 months my son has to be re-evaluated by his psychologist, as well as new “authorization” from his medical insurance (which in my experience it takes at least 3 weeks, and during this time period my son receives NO THERAPY because the therapists/company do not get paid until they get the “approval” from Medicaid) Another struggle I’ve been through with my son is, TSS’ are VERY LIMITED (HUGE TURNOVER) in 4years we’ve had over 10 TSS therapists Idk if this is an issue all over the states, or just PA or just my county.... but it’s VERY FRUSTRATING because my son takes awhile to “warm up” to new people/therapists and this issue alone has caused many setbacks for my son unfortunately! Let’s keep fighting for our kids/loved ones/friends etc because EVERYONE deserves the opportunity to become a better version of themselves!

This is unfair!! Families with autism should not have services taken away from them. This is unfair! People with Autism need their services so that they can succeed. Go Asa. Speek up for what you believe in. You are an inspiration to many! Continue inspiring!!! Continue to fight for what you believe in!!!!!

Asa.... I actually I think you have the crying super power too! I felt every word you were saying through the mega phone... then you almost lost it a few times when you spoke about Abbie. At those moments I totally started bawling.... I am so very proud of you two for sharing your story! You all are such a true genuine family and I thank you for sharing your life with us!💗
