Good job with that cut-off wheel! Something worth mentioning when replacing the bearings is the early bearings came with the spacer that goes between the bearing and the axle seat. If you are using the new style bearings with the spacer as part of the bearing, be sure to look closely at the axle to see if the old spacer is still on there. If you push on the new bearing with the spacer still on the axle the new bearing seats in the wrong place. It is easy to miss, and I have found a few that were still on the axle.

I really love the SJ 410 plates work.

Pro tip with the sj410 backing plate. Get your self some hex bolts instead of the standard ones. Literally just spent 3h getting the axles out because the little tabs wouldnt hold the nuts in place, but they also dont let you get a socket on to hold the bolt in place, so i had to hammer the fuck out of the backing plate to get sockets on all the bolts.

I use a press and that bearing clamp tool and press them right off with the backing plate like they did in the dealerahips when they were being worked on. Only problem is they dont usually press right out. Its scary sometimes when there is a full 20 ton pushing it and nothing happens till explosion of outer bearing race, so i add a little heat and some penetrant and they mostly come right off. If they dont press right out with little heat i will then cut the bearing and retainer collar and then it just falls apart. I try to save some collars incase i need one because i snagged a good used bearing that the collar wouldnt budge on. I love samurais. The rear end i run is a tracker/sidekick center with the samurai axle tubes welded on with the 5.13 gear ratio, welded and all you need to do is put the samurai axle couplers inside the pig and yours ready for business. I used to just get two tracker fronts to do both on samurai, but i found that the rear get trashed fast so i did a hybrid rear end and it rarely fails anymore. I also run the larger tracker/sidekick yokes and flanges so i have the bigger bolts and they dont come loose of shear off.

I usually sell them with chromo axles and bearings. I will post them as a product by themselves asap.

Less than a minute with a cutting torch and no injury to the axle if you know what you are doing. I have cut off hundreds of wheel bearings over the years on many different vehicles.

1 out of 10 Suzuki owners have a torch. Thanks though it’s amazing what some heat can do.

Especially when you add oxygen to the molten metal. You just have to be very careful when you get close to the axle. At that point you can usually knock them off with a drift.
